  1. Hi Pete, Thank you very much for taking the time to review my essay and pinpoint my mistake. That is why i believe this forum is great! I have taken a note of your advice and i am trying to improve the links between my sentences :) Can you please let me know how such an essay would be graded in exams? Best Regards, Eleni
  2. Subjects such as Art, Sport and Music are being dropped from the school curriculum for subjects such as Information Technology. Many people children suffer as a result of these changes. To what extent would you support or reject the idea of moving these subjects from school curriculum? While many schools replace Arts, Music, Sports courses and the like with courses like Information Technology, it is generally true that students will suffer from such a move. In this essay I will argue that even though Information Technology course is important, it should not replace but should coexist with the Arts, Music and Sports. One point is that the school is not only an organization that prepares students to enter the workforce but is most importantly an educational instrument. That goes to say that in order for the school to serve its educational purposes it should not only include in the school curriculum classes like Information Technology that are relevant to making good workers, but should also include classes that promote intellectuality and culture like the arts, sports and music. An additional point is that the school curriculum should be made in a way that focuses on developing the student’s personalities in a holistic way. The habits of students during young age will reflect the kind of person the student will be when he/she grows up. Some good illustrations are: A student that is close to sports, will lead a healthy lifestyle. Another point is that, when taking away from the school curriculum such classes, one deprives the opportunity from talented youngsters to expand their talent. Especially if the student does not come from a wealthy family, he/she may never have the chance to know its talent at all, in contract with a student from a wealthier family that can enroll in private classes. To sum up, even though Information Technology is a mandatory course in today’s society, classes such as the Arts, Music and Sports should not be dropped from the school’s curriculum. It is increasingly important in this age of globalization to help students explore their talents, develop holistic personalities and be educated in a comprehensive manner.
  3. if the market value of a car was $6000 exactly 3 years ago , what is its current market value? 1) Starting at the time of purchase, the market value of the card depreciated by 20 percent of its purchase price per year 2) the current market value of a car manufactured in the same year is $2400.
  4. Hi Vivek, thank you for your explanation but still i disagree with the OA. According to your comments in III-a we agree that there is a possibility that the pc was manufactured in 1988. But the question asks to find the cases in which someone can "DEFINITELY NOT" conclude as true........ Okeanos
  5. All computers manufactured after 1998 have a minimum processing speed of 400 MHz. My computer has a processing speed of 399 MHz. Which of the following can definitely NOT be concluded from the above statements? I) My computer was definitely manufactured after 1998. II) My computer may have been manufactured in 1998. III) If it had been manufactured a year later, my computer would have had a faster processing speed. (A) I only (B) II only (3) III only (D) I and III only (E) II and III only Your Answer : A Actual Answer : D Explanation Statement I can obviously not be concluded from the given statement. Nor can statement III be, for my computer may have been produced even in 1996, and according to the given information, computers with speeds higher than 399 MHz were produced only after 1998. Hence (D) is the correct answer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How come choice III cannot be correct? If my pc was manufactured in 1998, then one year later it would have higher processing speed!! Please help :rolleyes:
  6. Thank you guys for your replies. My answer was also C, but after i have seen MBAchase's explanation i understand why the correct answer is B. Because if "must be paid" every 6 months indicates that money are paid to Maria and not accrued on her account, it means that this is the same as having simple interest over a period of 1 year. It doesn't indicate that it is compound interest. If this is the case the B is enough to answer the question. Here is the explanation that i had which puzzled me: Correct Answer: B Solution: The only thing we need to know while calculating the annual interest is the rate of interest which is given in only statement 2. Hence it is the only statement which is sufficient.
  7. Maria deposits $10,000 in a bank. What is the annual interest which the bank will pay to Maria? (1) The interest must be paid once every six months. (2) The rate of interest is 4%.
  8. if the question is : an intensity corresponding to a magnitude of 165 is how many times an intensity corresponding to a magnitude of 125? then if the magnitude of 125 = X and for 165 = Y then : Y is 1000 times an intensity of X IMO this is a question regarding Y relative to X, which is actually 1000 times X.
  9. if X = -3 then according to stem X^3 = Y --> Y = -27 in this case X > Y : -3 > - 27 and Y is not a fraction
  10. 14. If X^3 = Y, is Y a fraction? (1) X^2 is a fraction. (2) X > Y. The OA is D but i think its A, cause if X and Y are less than 0 the X> Y and X^3 = Y. Can you please help? Is the OA wrong?
  11. because if n cubed equals y*3*3*5*5*2 then the prime numbers should also be cubed: n^3 should at least equal to 3*3*3*5*5*5*2*2*2 this n could equal to 3*5*2 and --> n^3 = 3^3 * 5^3 * 2^3 If n^3 already contains a 3 3 5 5 2 it is missing a 3 5 2 2. So now we know that y must contain 2 5 2 2 -> making I the correct answer
  12. “If the forest continues to disappear at its present pace, the koala will approach extinction,” said the biologist. “So all that is needed to save the koala is to stop deforestation,” said the politician. Which one of the following statements is consistent with the biologist’s claim but not with the politician’s claim? (A) Deforestation continues and the koala becomes extinct. (B) Deforestation is stopped and the koala becomes extinct. © Reforestation begins and the koala survives. (D) Deforestation is slowed and the koala survives. (E) Deforestation is slowed and the koala approaches extinction. OA to follow
  13. The OA is E. I have this CR and the Answer in my material.
