    Magoosh Reviews

@lupus521 - I'm a co-founder of Magoosh. While I can assure you that all of the reviews/quotes on our website are from real customers, I completely understand any doubt or skepticism you may have. We receive emails from customers on a regular basis, but I struggle with the best way to share these. On our blog, we've created a post for our customers to write comments about Magoosh in their own words (Magoosh GRE Reviews | Magoosh GRE Blog). Keith, a recent test-taker and user of Magoosh, recently wrote a guest post about his experience on our blog here (Student New GRE Experience: Keith | Magoosh GRE Blog) though he only used the Math section. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about Magoosh. We do also have a 7 day money back refund policy in case you do sign up and decide our program isn't a good fit for you. Thanks, Bhavin
  4. Hi all, We have created video explanations for every question (math and verbal) in the Official Guide to Revised GRE, and we're giving it away for free. Magoosh GRE - Videos for ETS's Official Guide to the GRE Revised General Test I'd love some feedback, so let me know if you find these videos helpful. Thanks! Bhavin
  5. Hey all - We have video explanations for all 100 questions from ETS's Revised GRE Paper Practice test. Note that many of these questions are also used in the Powerprep II software. You can download the GRE paper test for free from the ETS website: http://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/practice_book_GRE_pb_revised_general_test.pdf And you can access our video explanations for free here: http://gre.magoosh.com/videos-for-revised-gre-paper-test I hope you find these explanations helpful and I'd love any feedback you have!
  6. Hi - Magoosh provides online practice for Sentence Completion (and for the other parts of the GRE). Bhavin
  7. Hi - If I understand your post correctly, it sounds like the university requires a minimum of 700 for the Quantitative section. I have never before heard of a specific minimum announced by a university, but it is possible. If the university does require a 700 Quantitative score, then I'd suggest that you take the GRE again. If you do decide to try again, try to identify your weaknesses. Is it pacing? Is it certain types of questions? Do you understand the fundamentals but struggle to put them into practice, or do you need more work on the fundamentals. Depending on your weaknesses, you can try different types of practice material. For instance, Magoosh is good for those who need help with pacing and are trying to identify specific subjects of weakness (e.g., Algebra, Geometry, etc.) and for those who like to learn from videos; however, we may not be the best source if you need help with fundamentals. 8. The best and most accurate practice exam is Powerprep from ETS, the makers of the GRE. Though there are only 2 Powerprep tests so you may not want to use them both. Before I can really help, I'd need to know a little more about the types of questions you are missing or if you have a pacing issue or is it just lack of attention to detail - which happens to many students in test situations. I'm biased here...but my company, Magoosh, offers hundreds of practice questions, and all math questions have video solutions. We don't have score just yet, but it's a great source of practice material for the exam. You can try it out for free. Bhavin
  9. Official answer is E. A common mistake is confusing the length of the 3rd side with the height. A triangle's area is 1/2*base*height (not 1/2 * base * 3rd side). We know the 3rd side must be greater than difference of the first two sides and less than the sum of the other two sides. In this case 2 Let's say the third side is 3, now we have a very skinny triangle, whose height would be quite small. But note that the third side could even be 2.1 or 2.01 or 2.0001, etc... As the 3rd side gets smaller the height gets smaller. The height can be just greater than 0 (such as 0.0001). As the height of a triangle approaches 0, the area of the triangle will approach 0. In fact, there is no limit as to how small the area of a triangle can be (as long as it's greater than 0).
  10. The official answer is D. At first glance the relationship seems functional: a table is used to eat. But after surveying the answer choices, you see the several of the options are functional relationships, a towel is used to dry, a chair is used to sit, a bench is used to work etc... The relationship needs to be more specific. You position yourself at/near a table to eat. When you add this element of proximity along with function, only choice D remains. You position yourself at/near a bench to work.

    Area problem.

There are several ways to approach this problem. Here's one that's a little less mathematical: Think of 12 square meters as twelve 1 meter by 1 meter squares (or boxes). Each box has an area of 1 meter squared (1 meter x 1 meter). The question asks us to replace 1 meter with 2 centimeters. Now we have twelve 2 cm by 2 cm squares (or boxes). Each box has an area of 4 cm squared (2 cm x 2 cm). We have 12 of them, so the total area is 48 cm squared (12 x 4 cm squared) Note that the "squared" refers to the meters or centimeters not to the number. A meter times a meter = a meter squared or a square meter. Hope that helps!
  12. TABLE : EAT A) ladder : climb B) towel : dry C) chair : sit D) bench : work E) lamp : see [source: Magoosh GRE]
  13. Two sides of a triangle have length 6 and 8. Which of the following are possible areas of the triangle? I. 2 II. 12 III. 24 A) I only B) I and II only C) II and III only D) I and III only E) I, II, and III [source: Magoosh GRE]
