  12. Hi Erin, This is my first direct communication attempt to reach you, hope you will respond. Can you help to induce some real activity in argument and issue threads. People are simply not participating there. I think it will be helpful for all to evaluate and submit essays in these threads.
  13. "The presence of a competitor is always beneficial to a company. Competition forces a company to change itself in ways that improve its practices." Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading. The author of the passage states that the presence of the competitor is always beneficial to a company because its presence forces the company to improve practices. I disagree with the idea presented because the competition may not be always beneficial to the company. It is true that the competition forces a company to improve its practices but it is not always beneficial for the company. For example- a soap producing company which is facing severe competition is forced to improve its product by improving input quality and packaging, but this improvement will also raise the cost incurred by the company that will eventually reduce the profit margin. Reduced profit margin is certainly not beneficial for the company. Moreover presence of the competition reduces the demand for the company's product by offering close substitutes to the consumers. When Ford Motors had a monopoly over the market with its Model-T ford was more successful in the market with a cent percent market share but with time when other companies entered the business, they started hurting the Ford's business and their entry to the automobile business was not beneficial for Ford. Some people will argue that competition improves the practices for the company by leaving no other option, they are true to some extent but improvement in the practices alone is not sufficient for a company to be successful. Overall, absence of competition provides the company an opportunity to cater the whole market for its product which is "the ideal" and the most beneficial situation for any company and improvement in the practices of any company cannot be seen as benefit to the company in isolation.
  14. I was surprised that you have not received any feedback, i waited but nobody responded. Now that turned me an AWA expert but pardon me for any wrong comments. Og 12- “It is unrealistic to expect individual nations to make, independently, the sacrifices necessary to conserve energy. International leadership and worldwide cooperation are essential if we expect to protect the world’s energy resources for future generations.” Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading. Depletion of energy resources has been a very alarming issue in recent times. Conserving these resources is not a political or a regional concern, but a moral responsibilitylittle offtrack. In this discussion, I shall present arguments in favour of the opinion in question. Planet Earth is a “global village”. Events, in one part of the world, have global consequences. Although the developed nations have ample resources to sustain its citizenry in times of crises, it is crucial that these nations lead the movement of conserving energy by setting example. If countries such the Untied States of America, where the latest technology is readily available, propose to share their innovations with developing countries, it would mutually instill a feeling of faith in the cause. Many reputed automobile companies are making electric cars that are sold at very affordable prices in many countries(what car prices have to do with gas conservation? (not very direct relationship!!!), thus endorsing gas conservation. Air pollution, a global problem, is not only depleting the ozone layer causing "The Green House Effect", but also robbing us of our very important asset- human resource. Some of the developed countries such as the United States of America and United Kingdom, have employed the “Clean Clear Act” to fight against air pollution. Such gestures encourage other countries to do their bit(weak ).International bodies, such as World health Organization, bring different countries together and contemplate solutions for such worldwide issues of concern. Conserving resources for the generations involves not only planning for the future, but also conserving what we have. Busiest cities in the world are now employing techniques to convert wind into energy. This form of energy is called wind energy. Solar energy is also an extremely popular substitute for other nonrenewable sources. Hydro energy, energy generated from water, is a lucrative option which is employed globally. Another effective step towards conservation is to educate people about how these issues directly affect each individual alike and how various environment friendly options are available for their day to day activities. Doing so needs international cooperation because countries such as India, where population density is high and illiteracy is rampant, have their own challenges. It is imperative that the message of global alarm reaches their core areas, where people are still using outdated machinery, contributing majorly to the erosion of handful resources available. In conclusion, many counties are making efforts to preserve the natural assets of our planet, yet more international camaraderie is needed to fight the seemingly insurmountable issue of energy conservation. Paragraphs 4 & 5 are little offbeat, You actually emphasized on defining conservation, and the paradigm but the topic was, cooperative vs individual efforts. absolutely no problem with the language, grammar and style. you need to focus on expression
  15. Though I am not an expert but a with a quick reading I noticed the following trivial mistakes: The statement above is a controversial issue, which cannot be taken lightly. All of us, as human beings need private lives and need to do personal activities. However, when it comes to the office I believe(weak) that these things(things are nouns) must be kept out of the work place because it not only can(should be can not only) put the work we do in jeopardy but also can put the lives of those we love in danger. I will explain my view in the coming paragraphs(that’s obvious). First, the office is a place where ideas are laid on the table, where there should be no limits, where creativity should not have any boundaries, with the exception of a few limitations, legally and morally speaking. These ideas are things(2nd wrong use of “things”) that must be nurtured to build upon them. They(no referent) can then provide answers to questions and solutions to problems. But, those(not needed) workers who come up with these thoughts could be told that it wouldn’t work by those they love, or that these thoughts are wrong for subjective reasons, etc… We can take aspiring actresses for an example, these people dream of becoming one of Hollywood’s elite, but if these people are always told that it’s a dream that is simply too impossible to achieve these potentially brilliant artists will not be able to show the world a possible Oscar winning performance. Second, private lives should be left as separate as possible from the work place because in some cases we could endanger the people we love, in some cases. Take for instance, a police officer, a detective, or a Federal agent(weak analogy and explanation). These people do their jobs so well that in some cases their work could sometimes become personal in that these people would let their personal lives almost mix with their work. Eventually, these people either lose their loved ones or ruin the cases they’re working on putting even more people in jeopardy. Admittedly, these(again????) two elements are essential to one’s creativity. Meaning, some people are inspired by those that they are surrounded by and the activities they’re involved in. However, employees can be inspired by these things while keeping these elements out of the office. In sum, although people need private lives and personal activities to remain human(awkward framing- without the attributes are the people not human?) and to enhance their creativity, these private activities must remain separate from the working environment to keep the work people do objective and to ensure that the task that has been done has been done well. Use of pronouns : these, they,those……….. Clarify the idea : your thoughts are good but you are not able to explain them very clearly, that’s what the section is all about Use simple sentences: (sub- verb –object) construction
  16. for sc i will advise you to go through manhattan sc and try to grasp as much as you can don't try to mug up everything. Revise it. And then go straight to kaplan 800, not for the difficulty but for the explanations and absorb these explanations as a sponge and for now just focus on sc. revise all the questions 29 times until you understand every explanation and every question in kaplan (dont do any thing else) do it for 10 days. NOTHING ELSE PLEASE
  17. actually your score is brilliant. You excelled in quant. The good news is its easy to improve your verbal score. Anybody can achieve 90% + accuracy in SC and with CR and RC practice with a bit of tech can do wonders. 19. ok atishree , this is the strategy, it evolved as i worked hard. It worked for me i am sure it will also work for you, (it may reduce your pace but for sure boost up your accuracy) 1. read 1st 2-3 line very carefully and simply grasp it but do not read it more than once. 2. write 2-3 key words for every paragraph and try to keep a map in your mind ex- 1- keyword 1, 2 2-keyword 1,2 so on................. practice it for one week (7*5=35+do 5 RCs for me as a bonus=40) come back here and tell me solve 5 rc a day from 1000 rc document because it has more qs per rc. ok don't rush through but concentrate & give your 102% shot on every rc you do. and i want you to do this for a week and write down your hit rate in this thread. go hit it , and most important be aggressive with the rcs,
  20. Rauujh, excellent, that you have an 100% accuracy in verbal because i think OG 12 + Test from mba.com are quite representative of the actual test. Besides all your performance you need to improve on math section. So i have a question for you, Is there any time management problem for the section or you find the section hard? If the later one is true i will suggest you basic concept review + http://www.www.urch.com/forums/gre/11422-how-get-high-gre-quant-score-average-math-non-math-test-takers.html + Kaplan 800 (study with concentration) Ok? all the best. go ahead and Jazz

  23. The normative model of strategic decision-making suggests that executives examine a firm’s external environment and internal conditions, and in using the set of objective criteria they derive from these analyses, can decide on a strategy. A. conditions, and in using the set of objective criteria they derive from these analyses, can decide B. conditions, and they use the set of objective criteria derived from these analyses in deciding C. conditions and, in using the set of objective criteria derived from these analyses, deciding D. conditions and, using the set of objective criteria derived from these analyses, decide E. conditions and, in their use of the set of objective criteria they derive from these analyses, they decide Please help me with this: I follow a rule, that look for a list or clauses wherever you see "and" but for the correct option D i am unable to figure out the construction of the clause (using the set of objective criteria derived from these analyses, decide on a strategy) Please walk me through this question.
