  1. Thats sounds like work rather than xtra curr. More like an intern or co-op. put it in your app and count it as work exp. (They won't count it as real work but semi work )
  2. Good reference are those who worked with you before. Meaning your direct boss for 90% of the cases. Giving a reference with the same rank is ok but not as well as one from a former boss.
  3. Well, here is the thing. getting all of those classes and good GMAT scores are ONLY prereq. for most tier 1 MBA program. If you took those classes in UG and got mostly C's, you almost have little chance if at all to go to tier-1/ top-5 schools. Think of these classes like your BS or BA degree. You need it to get a particular job but getting the BS or BA degree does not neccessary get you in for that job. However, based on your WE, you have the potential to get in.
  4. Thunderbird will be even worse as you will not get the job you wanted in the US. Again, talk to those thunderbird students and see what they say. Are you planning to go back to your home country? If so, it would not have mattered.
  5. You should stop looking at the ranking and start talking to the student. Things to find out from them: 1) Does ppl like you get the job they wanted 2) The pay they wanted 3) Where did they ended up 4) If they got the job they wanted, is this the job you wanted?
  6. Generally, yes. except if you work for some small startup in the valley or some hedge fund or PE shop.
  7. You need to do both. A high GMAT does not erase UGPA. The alternative transcript will help. You don't need finance I or II. You need calculus I and II. Take a micro as well.
  8. Anita, you must have graduate top 50% of your class, right? Would you say those that did so-so in school, is it the norm that most career changer foreigner get the job they wanted in US with H1B? I will say this is a hit and miss issue, in good times, 60% will get the job. In todays job market, it's a lot less. For the poster, best to talk to foreigners of the school and find out if they get the visa or not and are they career changers or not.
  9. So your WE is your weak point since you are competing with folks from PE/HF and ibanking as well as run of the mill Big4 accountants. The good thing is you are Thai. What is an LF? Student gov is good but thats during college years, how about now? I think you need to do more extraCurr. Which liberal art coll.? Are they williams, swarthmore or amherst? If not, you still has some battles in those stated schools.
  10. Thats right. Provided you didn't send in the score during exam time.
  11. Did you finish all stat, econ and calculus courses. 5 credits in total, that is
  12. Unfortunately, yes. The only school that might get you a decent job (if you are on H1 visa) with a career change in georgia is emory.
  13. I think school can only see your most recent 3 scores. And if they think you only took it three times from 460 to 720, then they say you work very hard and qualify. From an academic perspective (unless your score is very skrewed), you qualify for all those schools. The harder issue is how are other skills and WE? For WE, Are you working in a B.Bucket ibank as analyst? PE? HF? VC? or plain vanilla commercial bank and mortgage lender? For school, which california school? which one? The UC or CSU? What was your ExtraCurr activity?
  14. Yes. I know its discouraging but its the reality. By law, US employers must hire qualify US student first before hiring any foreign ones.
  15. You need to mitigate with your university courses in alternative transcript.
