  1. @ HIMADRIC: not sure but probably 4 - 4,5 @ Sailu: you are right - C
  2. I haven't yet. I am just reading essays and strategies trying to get an idea what is an appropriate essay.
  3. Sentence completion task: They ____ until there was no recourse but to_________ a desparate, last minute solution to the problem. -berated... try -delayed...envision -procrastinated... implement -debated...maintain -filibustered...reject
  4. @ HIMADRIC: Sorry, it took too long to read your work. Here is my assessment (even though super unprofessional). I think the structure of the essay is good. The beginning is really good, then you explain your point pretty well, you give enough examples, and your have a conclusion. What I didn't like about your essay is grammar and wording. You made slight mistakes like sometimes subjects don't agree with verbs. Also I am not sure if you can use some cliches in analytical writing (like nitty-gritty). Well, in general I think the essay sounds pretty persuasive and you communicated your ideas well.
  5. @ Sailu: GOOSE : GANDER duck : drake
  6. @ Sailu FIRE:ASHES:: -event:memories PROLIX - terse HACKNEYED :: FRESHNESS C. ponderous : lightness MASON :: STONE E. carpenter : wood
  7. The keys to my questions are B A D @ Sailu: C D C
  8. Here is sentence completion question. The ________ of the desert explains why so many Egyptian mummies are still intact, whereas the humidity of the tombs in tropical rain forests supports the agents of decay so that few Aztec mummies have ________. - heat...survived - aridity...endured - dehydration ... decayed - barrenness ... proliferated - seclusion ... surfaced Analogies: ELECTRICITY : WIRE fluid : pipe car : highway river : bank light : bulb music : instrument Antonyms DIFFIDENT -indolent -exigent -apocryphal -confident -endemic Good luck!
  9. Well, my vocabulary also sucks.Only God knows all those words (still using dictionary, lol). Dear Divya, I also started my studyig from practicing, I took sample tests and was trying to figure right answers out, but I think it was erroneous. What should we really start from is cramming the vocabulary. I learn 40 words every day and I notice that I meet more and more familiar words in the test (in all sections). Do you have the Kaplan's list of GRE words? If not I can send it to you. @ Sailu: I wouldn'tsay that I do great in other sections either. I have got hundreds of new words learnt but still it is not enough and the reading section sucks too bc the answers seem always similar and I never see those little tiny details and I pick up wrong answers(( The maths section goes better but again sometimes I do stupid mistakes((
  10. Hey Sailu, where are you going to post your essay?On this page? I am done with reading the theoretical preparation materials and ready to practice and my weakest point is writing analitical texts. I guess I need to start from reading what people write)) So Iam looking forward to your and other's essays. Elena.
  11. Dear Divya, I realized that the best strategy is just learn as much vocab as I can. I learn 40 new words per day adn at weekends revise them over and over again. Also I've got Kaplan's general preparatory course and Kaplan's math workbook. It's helped a lot so far. It offers a lot of sample tests and keys with explanations. In few days Iam gonna start writing essays. I thinkt he sample essay questions are given on GRE webpage. Good luck to everyone! I hopein a month or two we will share our results and will be proud of ourselves))
  12. Hey! May I join your chat? I amgonna take the test in August. I've been trying to read strategies for taking all sections but came to the point that the best way to get prepared is to learn as much vocabulary as possible. You cannot outsmart the verbal section without knowing at least 1000-1500 GRE words. As for the Maths section, it seems quite possible to crack... And the analytical section seems to be the hardest one. Only practice can help...
  13. Hey! I am going to apply for TESOL the up-coming fall but haven't chosen the Universities. Does anyone have an esperience in applying for this program?
