  1. Hello compu I have done my apps with one of them and i would really recoomend it. Check this out. www.mbastudio.net I sent them my intial draft of the essay and the feedback was excellent. I did take their services and the outcome was a sucess. Send you initial essay and check their comments. I am sure this will help. Regards
  2. Hi Rohan You have a good chances with ISB and any school in the states. Your gmat is above the average of top schools. Though gmat is one part of the application, you work epxrnc, extra-currcl matters too. The least is the AWA (trust me). This can be easily over looked by the TOEFL scores as well through your application essays. Trust me, AWA is the least things in the whole list of deciding factors. Ofcourse, if there is a TWIN application with the same gmat, same quality of essays, very very similar work exprnc and activities, then yeah the adcom needs to differenciate in one aspects...still the AWA will come the last. :-) Relax brother and work on the applications. The adcom gives a lot a lot of weightage to the essays. Regards
  3. Hi mba05 I was in a similar boat as ur now in. I did a lot of homework, (everyone should, I guess). And below is my analysis. France - Top schools - HEC, INSEAD. HEC is fantastic school and rated No.1 in france. Surprsingly better than INSEAD for its ethical stuff that HEC cultivates thru its program. No program can promise a 100% job. But, HEC students do get a job if they are not stren on the salary part. If one is happy with a 70K, post-mba, well, that will do. Negotiations, compromising and go-get attitude will get the job. Germany - Naaa, not a single program is good enough, compared with other reputed schools. Germany is for engineer, for M.S, and not for business studies. Spain - IESE, ESADE are 2 prestigious programs. Spanish language is a part of the course. You can get a good break after the MBA even if u do not know spainish. LBS - Wow !!!, i have nothing to say but for that word. The label will carry you far. A so called "Royal Salute" to this school for its prestige. Again, you study one additional forgn language as a part of the course. "Said" - Thats a good one too (but with a Royal salute) :-) One thing mate, I do not understand when people say "If you want to work in Europe do the european mba and if you want to work in US, go to a US school". This is irritating and for me absolutely nonsense. Pardon me for my words. I would never want this criteria when choosing a school. The best program is one that is not limited to coutries and boundaries. I do not know where I will work after IESE, but hey, if a firm tells me to take a challenging position in Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, Japan...well, I have my backpack ready. My suggestion is look at the course work, the mode ot study, the costs, the returns, the placements. The average salary will give u a ball park, but thats not the sole criteria. I have checked that Cornell graduates average sal is about 120K and that of IESE is 95K. Still IESE is better for the reason is, living in New York with a 120K is same as living in Spain with 70K. I hope you got the point in here. If HEC suits you, its the best, but u have to learn french to increase ur prospects. And why should you not?. You want to work in a french firm and not knowing their language will handicap you. Right?. Use this opportuinity to learn a new language. It WILL help you in the long run. Would you not want to learn the language of your company you work for?. Does it not help you climb the ladder faster?. Go ahead brother, apply to these schools and make ur dreams come true. To be honest, no program restricts you with geographical boundaries. If you know what it takes to land there, you will. Be it USA, Europe or Asia. Good luck.
  4. Hi Stuart Thanks for the compliments. IESE is a fantastic school and is strong in general management. I spoke to couple of students, and they had mentioned that more than 80% is case-studies (which i love the most due the practical approach). IESE is ranked 3rd by Financial Times. As for my work exp - mech engineer, 10 years, 5 countries, 4 languages. As for the cost it is 60000Euro (heck a lot of money), but hey, no quality education comes cheap, is it not?. I hope and have a strong feeling that this will pay off soon. If there is anything else, let me know. I shall more than glad to help you with.
  5. Hi Merc I have not been to Spain. I was living in Germany for almost 3 years and had been to other european places, but for Spain. Now I get this opportuinity to go the 'left-out' country. And naa, I do not know Spainish, but i intend to learn it. I have heard a lot about Barcelona and I am sure, it will be a wonderful 2 years at IESE. Thanks for compliments.
  6. Hi I chose IESE for reasons apart from the prospects. One is that the IESE course work is highly case-studies base, that will give practical knowlegde. It is a highly reputed college (ranked 3rd by FT). And for the bi-lingual program, which will give me an opportuinity to study the 4th most spoken language. The post-mba statistics are also fantastic. I spoke to couple of students from schools such as RSM, SDA, IESE, ESADE... to know more about the program. Of all the listed European programs, I gave IESE the top. I hope this helps. If you need any information about any schools, I shall be glad to hlpe you out. Regards
  7. My Profile Under Grad - Mechanical Engineer (india) GMAT - 640 Work exprn - 10 years (China, India, Singapore, Arabia, Germany) Languages - 3 strong, 2 fair Thanks for the replies.
  8. Hi It gives me great pleasure to say that I have been admitted to my 'first' choice school. I recvd an email from IESE (Spain - after a long wait) that I have been admitted to their MBA program. The remaining schools are Cornell, and LBS (long shot with a 640 gmat). I thank all the guys who supported me during my gmat preparation. I shall keep you guys posted on the outcome of other 2 schools. (By the way, 'Purdue' rejected me due to 'solid' work expereince and suggested me to take the 11month program...which i feel is not right for me) - And YES, I shall post the entire application process of mine to all the schools and how I got in to a MBA program with a fair score of 640. Regards
  9. Hi It gives me great pleasure to say that I have been admitted to my 'first' choice school. I recvd an email from IESE (Spain - after a long wait) that I have been admitted to their MBA program. The remaining schools are Cornell, and LBS. I thank all the guys who supported me during my gmat preparation, and also Erin for his wonderful work. I shal keep you guys posted on the outcome of other 2 schools. (By the way, 'Purdue' rejected me due to 'solid' work expereince and suggested me to take the 11month program...which i feel is not right for me) Regards
  10. Hi I have recvd a "ding" email from Purdue. Now, that was a safety school for me. I revcd 2 emails from Purdue, one stating the "rejection" and the other one, stating that I stand a high chance for the MS-IA (Industrial administration), which is a 11 month program. The core subjects are same from MBA and MSIA. They want me to respond immedietly. I do not have much idea on the MSIA program. Can anyone suggest me what I should be doing?. Is it true that the MBA sells better than the MSIA? In the US and in the corporate world, is it not that MBA is always a "business standard" degree compared to the MS- IA? The MSIA is specifically catered for people with solid exprnc and those who do not want to change their career track. any hlpe and suggestion will be helpful. Regards
  11. Hi I sent Cornell an email to verify about the 'cryptic' status messg. They promptly responded that it is not much of an issue, as the decisions are still pending. I will get to hear by the end of March. But, not having information about the interview (which is a must) ....now thats a little difficult. Perhaps, the interviews are extended till the deadline (March 31). Regards
  12. thanks again Yousuf I understand what you meant in ur replies. The real status shows "Not available" and the words below the status shows, "Description - Please check near to the deadline...". I understand that if an application is "rejected" they wud not put it right there, it wud shock some of them, but to send an email. Well, all i know about the status is that either they give as "Email sent", "decision emailed", "currently under review" or "Interview", but I have ever heared of "Not available". This is what makes it difficult to comprehend. Not sure what it means to Cornell (Johnsons school). Regards
  13. Thanks for the reply. The decision deadline is March 30. As from the information i got from the school, a week back was that an interview is a must for Cornell (MBA). And some of the students had an intermidiete status, such as "Interview..". But I did not have any such intermediete one. Thats making things a little creepy. If an application is rejected does the status show "Application denied"?. Regards
  14. HI I checked the online application status of one of the schools that I have applied to. And today the status has been changed from "Currently under review" to "Please check your status on or about the notification deadline date." What does this really mean. Are there any hidden stuff, like "Rejected" or "waiting list".....this is one of my favourite schools. If the application is rejected, does it clearly show "Rejected" in the online status, or does it show cryptic words as it does in my case. Perhaps, some of you would have been a little unlucky, and wud have checked the status, whereby the "bomb" was displayed. Can you guys put few words in here to ease me. Thanks brothers. Regards
  15. Hi from statement 1. we can say that 't' lies between 2 and 4 (meaning, can be any value such as 2.4, 3.3 etc..). Or can also be 3, which will still satisfy the equality. To solve such problems.... Substitute values, which will satisfy the VALUE. Look at the VALUE. (forget the sign, wheather it is -ve or +ve, as this will nullify when an absoulte sign is present). In the above case, 't' can take any value between 2 and 4. if 't' is 2.5, then 2.5-3=-0.5 which is less than 1 (|-0.5|=0.5). Always make atleast 2 substituitions to confirm. Take "t" as 3 , which will result in 0 (also less than 1), and take 't' as 3.5, which will result as +0.5 (also less than 1). From this we can see that, t can be an integer 3, or can be a non-integer 3.5. Statement 2 says t is not equal to 3. Combinging we can say that t is a non-integer. I hope this helped.
