Hi All, I have received offers from Colorado State University (MS in Electrical Engineering) and Polytechnic Institute of New York University (MS in Computer Engineering with $10000 fellowship per year) for Fall-2012 admission. My scores go like this . GRE : V480, Q770, 3.0 TOEFL : 109/120 73% during undergraduate study. I am now expecting admission decisions from SUNY-Stony Brook, U of Maryland, U of Florida (Gainesville) and Iowa State university. Please let me know which of the above two offers should I go for, whether to CSU or to NYU-Poly?Do provide your inputs on the academic fraternity and the perceived safety of students at the universities. According to me it should be fine if you listen to some lectures and watch a few movies. It takes to some to adjust to the pace but its worth it!

My GRE & TOEFL scores are as below GRE - 1250 (770Q, 480V) TOEFL iBT- 109/120 Apart from this, I have a decent academic record. Very rarely have I participated in any subject related activities. Please let me know if I need to take courses of any kind in VLSI/Electronics in general to strengthen my resume/SOP. Please suggest any alternate methods which would help to strengthen my profile. Hi, I took two sample tests on the Kaplan CD and I went wrong in all the questions which appear at the end of the passages. These are the Drag and drop questions where the main ideas of the passage need to be chosen as the answer. Please suggest me any tips to answer these questions. In your opinion, what are the qualities of a good neighbor? Use specific details and examples in your answer. Neighbors are those who stay close to our homes. Neighbors play a significant role in our social life. Every person would anticipate neighbors to be friendly in nature. Whenever you go back home after a day’s tiring work and if you see a neighbor banging his door the moment he sees you, it is natural that your mind will enter a troubled state. On the other hand, if the neighbor smiles and shares a light moment with you, this will help you in coming out of the hangover of your day’s work. It is always very nice to have a friendly and helpful neighbor who can converse with you in a friendly and supportive way. Also, neighbors need to be good-natured and well mannered. This is a very important quality particularly if there are kids in your house. Kids learn a lot of things by observation. Kids usually are not aware of right or wrong. If kids find a neighbor doing some unlawful act, there are many chances that the kids try doing that themselves. Hence, constant vigil and guidance is necessary for them. However, gentleman as a neighbor would always prove to be a boon. Such a neighbor would also be helpful in keeping watch on your house during you absence, if not strictly, at least in a way. I would like to share an example. One of my friends’ neighbor was a goon. As expected, many other such hoodlums used to visit the neighbor. People in that street usually would not speak to that guy and generally used to lock themselves in their homes just to avoid being sighted by the goon. This is not the sign of a healthy locality. Only when the people in a neighborhood mingle with each other and cooperate, could there be a healthy neighborhood.
