  1. Hi, do you have any information (i.e. how and they are notified) about the status of phd applications (particularly in management) ? I have applied to nyu, ucla, boston college, cmu, purdue and wharton. Only wharton notified (a month ago) that I was rejected. No news from any of the others. Do you have any idea how long we should still wait? Are they going to send notifications via email about the final decision or we are supposed to check daily the online app ebsite? thanks and goodluck to you all guys!
  2. Hello gentlemen, I am finding harder than I would like the rankings of phd programs in management with concentrations in organizational studies. I found business schools ranks but without any distinction for field of study. So, 1) do I assume that best business schools have best phd programs in management? 2) where do I find Phd in Management / OB rankings? thanks M
  3. thank you very much for your advice! my interest is on micro: change management, organizational change, incentive and motivation theory, trust theory
  4. Hi, I just don't get one thing: how does your post reply to my question "I would like to understand what kind of biz school (i.e. top10 - top20 - top50 - top1/0) i can aim at, given my profile, in order to maximize my chances to succeed"? With your argument "just develop a a research interest and then aplly in the schools where it is pursued" most of the discussions in this forum would have no reason to be!
  5. First of all, thank you very much David for sharing your opinion. My 29/30 GPA should correspond to a 3.7 - 3.8. About the GRE, this is the score I am going to submit to schools. Evem if it might prevent me from applying to a few programs, it should be high enough to make it through most of the cut-offs. Also, as you mentioned, people with 800q and 750v did not make so, we applicants are competing with other weapons. The reasons for which I am not going to retake the GRE are: 1) Management - OB PhD programs are less demanding on quantative than Economics and Finance PhDs 2) Just two right answers stand between a 800q and a 760q GRE: I want to believe that adcoms do not make choices on that but on a much broader evaluation of the whole profiles. 3) 620v gre score I think it is rather good for a non native english speaker (although I understand verbal GRE has little relavance). Anyway, I know that world is huge and chances to get into a top 10 phd programs are scarce for everyone, given the competition. Since I would be pleased to get in any funded phd (obviously the higher the rank, the better) I am asking: what is a suitable target range for me? top 20? top 50? Thanks again!
  6. Hi m8s! I am about to apply for a phd in management (concentrations in organizational studies). I would like to understand what kind of biz school (i.e. top10 - top20 - top50 - top1/0) i can aim at, given my profile, in order to maximize my chances to succeed. What matters for me is getting into a phd program, which means: Harvard much better than Homer Simpson School of Management but Monty Burns Business School much better than nothing (as long as I am provided with funding by the University). Currently I am thinking about a portfolio of 10 business school to apply to: 3 in the top 10, 3 in the top 20, 2 in the top 50 and 2 in the top 100. My profile is: BS and MS: Business economics at LUISS (Rome) GPA: 29/30 (in both BS and MS) which means I was one of the finest students Toefl IBT: 104 GRE: 620V, 760Q (dunno AW yet) LORS: ex professors of mine (who are very good and reknown in Italy but I doubt their international fame in the US even if some of them had studied in some top business schools - Columbia, Sloan MIT, Wharton UPenn) Professional experience: 2 years in business consulting, working on competitive analysis, business process analysis, post-merger integration. Language skills: Italian (mother tongue), english and spanish (fluent), french (good). SW skills: proficinecy with excel, power point, Visio and Aris (as every business consultanat ) Do I need to add further details? Thank u very much for your kind attention and suggestions!
