  1. IMO answer is A AC is the traversal cutting the parallel lines BC and AD 1. Alternate angles y=x=50.Hence sufficient 2. z=40 but value of y is unknown.Even though we know the exterior angle theorem that angle= angle y+ angle z, we are still helpless as value of angle y is known to find value of angle x. hence insufficient. So answer is A.
  2. Thanks for the replies guys.I dont mean to be rude but liking one version or the other is not the point here right.I still didn't understand entirely which ones are right and why.Need to know what's right according to GMAT standards.Appreciate your efforts though.
  3. Vasquez-Morrell Assurance specializes in insuring manufacturers. Whenever a policyholder makes a claim, a claims adjuster determines the amount that Vasquez-Morrell is obligated to pay. Vasquez-Morrell is cutting its staff of claims adjusters by 15 percent. To ensure that the company’s ability to handle claims promptly is affected as little as possible by the staff cuts, consultants recommend that Vasquez-Morrell lay off those adjusters who now take longest, on average, to complete work on claims assigned to them. Which of the following, if true, most seriously calls into question the consultants’ criterion for selecting the staff to be laid off? (A) If the time that Vasquez-Morrell takes to settle claims increases significantly, it could lose business to other insurers. (B) Supervisors at Vasquez-Morrell tend to assign the most complex claims to the most capable adjusters. © At Vasquez-Morrell, no insurance payments are made until a claims adjuster has reached a final determination on the claim. (D) There are no positions at Vasquez-Morrell to which staff currently employed as claims adjusters could be reassigned. (E) The premiums that Vasquez-Morrell currently charges are no higher than those charged for similar coverage by competitors. I am confused between B and C. Chose C. Apparently OA is B.COuld someone please elaborate?
  4. Ecoefficiency (measures to minimize environmental impact through the reduction or elimination of waste from production processes) has become a goal for companies worldwide, with many realizing significant cost savings from such innovations. Peter Senge and Goran Carstedt see this development as laudable but suggest that simply adopting ecoefficiency innovations could actually worsen environmental stresses in the future. Such innovations reduce production waste but do not alter the number of products manufactured nor the waste generated from their use and discard; indeed, most companies invest in ecoefficiency improvements in order to increase profits and growth. Moreover, there is no guarantee that increased economic growth from ecoefficiency will come in similarly ecoefficient ways, since in today’s global markets, greater profits may be turned into investment capital that could easily be reinvested in old-style eco-inefficient industries. Even a vastly more ecoefficient industrial system could, were it to grow much larger, generate more total waste and destroy more habitat and species than would a smaller, less ecoefficient economy. Senge and Carstedt argue that to preserve the global environment and sustain economic growth, businesses must develop a new systemic approach that reduces total material use and total accumulated waste. Focusing exclusively on ecoefficiency, which offers a compelling business case according to established thinking, may distract companies from pursuing radically different products and business models. The primary purpose of the passage is to A. explain why a particular business strategy has been less successful than was once anticipated B. propose an alternative to a particular business strategy that has inadvertently caused ecological damage C. present a concern about the possible consequences of pursuing a particular business strategy D. make a case for applying a particular business strategy on a larger scale than is currently practiced E. suggest several possible outcomes of companies’ failure to understand the economic impact of a particular business strategy Could someone explain me the answer plz? I am confused between A and D.
  5. SmashedPumpkins... I am at the same level as you are. Guys, some help here?

  7. Even I was confused betwen C and D.Let me give a shot at why OA is C. The question asks about the reason for duplication, which we immdediately go back to "streamlining the services...". But the reason for duplication and ultimatelu streamlining the services is to maintain the "priority" which can be taken from the 3rd sentence " Theory suggests that .... than in making money..". Experts plz let us know of I am right in my analysis.
  8. Does C for the 2nd question comes a close second?
