  1. Hi all, I just got an offer from J-PAL for a field position in India. I am really excited about it and am definitely taking it. Anyone else here who will be joining J-PAL in India this year? Also, if there is anyone who is currently working at J-PAL in India or has done so in the past, I would really appreciate any advice you might have. Thanks!
  2. Yes, I am really anxious too. I am wondering if they have already started making offers? Anyone have any idea about this? Also, how many people do PI's interview for a given project and position, on average?
  3. Hi all, I recently had two consecutive interviews for a j-pal south asia field position in India. The first one was with one of the exec directors of j-pal south asia and the second one was with one of the principal investigators of the project I am interviewing for. Its been a week and a half since the last interview and I haven't received a decision from them yet; although, I was told that it will take them about 2 weeks. Should I be worried? Any info on the hiring process of j-pal south asia would be appreciated. Also, I thought the interview went well - in fact my second interviewer e-mailed me a paper they thought I might find interesting (although nothing was said about the hiring decision). This was about a week ago. The paper was written by the principle investigators but was not directly related to the project I was interviewed for. I responded by thanking them, mentioning a couple of things about the paper I thought were interesting and nothing more (my response was very brief). Should I have given a more detailed and critical commentary of the paper? Also, I will be interviewing with the Center for Micro Finance (close affiliate of J-Pal) this week. Anyone has any experience interviewing with them? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. I recently had two consecutive interviews with J-Pal for a field position in South Asia. The first one was with the staff on location and the other was with one of the principle investigators of the project I am being considered for. I am now waiting for a decision on their part. Does anybody have any inside info on how these things work out? Also, any other relevant info on this matter would be appreciated.
