Hi Brent, Yes it was weird and this has put me in doubts. I never got less than 48 on the CATs and was expecting same here. A 48 or 49 would have put me in a better position. Now I am contemplating a retake. What are your views on same? I am not applying this year so I do have time at hand. Thanks.

Its funny..it really is! All through my preparation, Verbal was my pain area and Quants was something I was comfortable with. Always finished quants with at least 10 minutes remaining and never scored less than 48 in the practice tests but the real thing was different and pulled down my score to a 680. And the worst part about a 680 is that its an average score - its a score which is in the range of scores of schools I want to apply to but its just that- average. If it were 640 or something, the next step would have been to retake but a 680 is like standing on a three way and banging you head to decide what to do next. So once the initial frustration is out here, let me breakdown my experience: AWA: AWA was fine. Nothing unexpected. AWA infact helped me calm down my nerves and got me into the test taking mode. I had read chineseburned templates and they were very helpful in creating the very important basic structure. You can find the template here: http://gmatclub.com/forum/how-to-get-6-0-awa-my-guide-64327.html Quants: First five questions were ok, I breezed through them and then the difficulty level increased and I was happy that I was doing fine. But after say 7th question, it became really different (I would not say difficult because the questions were not tough. They all were doable.) in the sense that they were long questions which took time to read and then with long calculations. For example, calculating area of odd shapes for which the only way was to breakdown the shape into rectangles and triangles - calculating the base or height, calculating individual areas and then summing it up. I got 2 questions like that. Doable but time consuming. I guess my entire quants experience was weird to say the least. I got at least 10 questions from geometry and co-ordinate geometry, 3-4 from compound interest calculations, few from probability and these questions came in rows. I got 4 co-ordinate questions in a row. And all this made me run out of time. I practically had to guess last 3 questions. Verbal: Verbal was predictable. Very GPrep like. The question formats and structures were similar to Gprep. I got 4 passages out of which only one was super lengthy and rest were ok. The CR and SC questions were not very confusing however, SC did test some real skills :) All in all, I am left confused after the test. I have decided to take a week's break and then may be jump again into the wagon and tame the GMAT. Wish me luck!!! P.S. Tips to improve quants will be appreciated.

IMO B. The argument says that bank should reallocate the voting shares to shape better economic policy. The objective of the bank is to make better policy and we have to find how allocating more apt shares will help the bank to make better policies. B says the same. C is not correct because of two reasons: 1. Its too extreme - Only voting shares that are precisely proportional to each countty's contrlbution to the global economy are appropriate for the Intercontinental Bank. 2. It makes you ask the question - Do I want to know what's apt for Intercontinental Bank or do I want to know how can bank make better policy (which is what you want to know...isn't it?) I hope its clear to you now.

Even I think, it should be E. C is too extreme and also the use of "most" in the argument leaves scope for someone who can forge and get in. So we really cant say that nobody can get in. Can the new members discuss it out.

I agree with you on "will fail" part but am still thinking that "failed" or "has failed" is required to make it consistent with "stated". As you rightly said, POE points to option A only..

But what are your views on the use of "fail" in B. Should it not be "failed" or "will fail"...

IMO C. Let the total clients = 100 No. of clients using both credit card and cheque book = 30. Let total no of clients using credit card = x So, no. of clients using credit card but no cheque book = 0.4x According to question, 0.4x+30 = x x= 50 (which is the total number of clients using credit card) Since we had assumed total no. of client to be 100, this value of x is the percentage answer. You can aslo do it by making table as: CC no CC Total CB 30 no CB 0.4x Total x 100 It took little less than a min to solve this. I hope this was helpful.

Is x^1/2 a prime number? (1) mod (3x-7) = 2x+2 (2) x^2 = 9x

But as far as my understanding goes, A,B,C,D,E can sit together but their partners can not sit next to them. The questions is asking the ways 5 couples are seated on a line, provided no person is next to his/her partner. So ideally A and B can sit together A and a or B and b can not sit together and so on. So 1st seat can be taken in 10 ways - Lets fix A to seat no 1. For second seat, we have just 1 constraint that a can not sit there. So seat no 2 can be taken in 8 ways..... ...so on and so forth. Am I missing something here?

Why are you assuming that for B there are just 4 options. The constraint is for a only that a can not sit at seat no 2, but B can sit anywhere. Are we supposed to assume that couples will sit at alternate seats? If yes, why? Thanks.

I will go with E. The argument says that since the advertisers can no no more use imitations and the original singers are expensive the costs will rise. What is missing here - how about what if the advertisers don't use well known renditions and they use not so well known but cheaper versions instead. In this case, the cost will not rise. Option E says that the advertisers will keep on using the well known renditions and because of the lawsuit, they will have to hire the original singers and hence cost will rise. In assumptions questions, we should paraphrase the solution even before looking at the answer choice. If not, we should look for an option without which the statement will fall apart. E does it.

You may want to buy "The next 10 actual official lsat preptests". A word of caution: you may practice CR from LSAT papers but you should not loose focus of GMAT CR.
