  1. Princeton has been building its macro group recently. A lot of senior offers in the past. Mark Aguiar, Golosov, Greg Kaplan. But its macro hasn't placed students as well as it should have. Do you think the situation would change in the future?
  2. So the main problem is I am not sure which field I want to study... I recently start looking into labor, it seems interesting too. And I know many people switch their major in their second or third year. So I doubt that even if I decide to do IO now, I might switch in grad school.
  3. Sorry, I just got into Princeton. I would be very happy to hear more about princeton.
  4. true, princeton has bendheim center and its faculty in macro&finance are excellent. And i saw the placement record for placement 03-09 (somewhere in the forum) and it seems great but not as well as Yale. And many macro students end up in WB or IMF, more than academia positions. Would anyone be willing to answer why this is the case? Also, I know Princeton has a strong team of Labor, but its placement hasn't been performing as expected given its strength. Any thought?
  5. ok, this is getting more complicated. I also got an offer from princeton, how should i choose?
  6. lol, i havent thought about joining chicago's faculty, YET.
  7. yeah definitely, i would go ask them several important questions before i make my decision. also, campus and people there matter a lot too. thanks for your input!
  8. I understand these. Just looking at their faculty makes me wanna go to chicago... but i think program itself is more important and placement is a good indicator. Or is placement an input-based? Good students admitted to chicago chose not to go there and went to other places?
  9. I have funding from both schools, so funding wouldn't be my concern. For now, I am not sure what field I am interested in, but I have narrowed down to IO, and finance&macro. What are you guys' opinions on these two schools? Chicago econ worries me a little bit, because I am concerned that I might not do well in placement if I go to Chicago. But I noticed that chicago has started their joint program in financial economics and its first year's placement seems great. (And chicago is definitely the best place for finance) The cons of going to chicago might be all these rumors: very competitive, professors would be only nice to good students and etc. For yale, its placement seems getting better every year. And I am surprised that two stars from yale, vavra and berger, are studying macro, which yale is not traditionally good at. Its IO placement is promising. And I heard that the environment is quite friendly. I would appreciate any inputs!
  10. I saw 2 acceptances on gc. have they sent out all decisions yet?
