  1. [h=2][/h] I'm weighing where to spend my time between now and December applications: the best general GRE score I can get, or a decent GRE score plus the subject test. I'm leaning towards the former because my subject test would be in psych. Looking at these forums, there are tons of posts in some areas (e.g. bio, CS) and hardly one post per year in psychology. Am I right in thinking that though the psych subject test can't hurt and can only help if the score's good, I'm not being suicidal by not taking it? (Whereas with bio or CS, I'd really be harming my chances). Only one of my preferred schools actually states that it prefers the subject test, and I could just drop that one from my list.

  3. Hello - I'm 39 and am considering being a grad school oldie. I'm interested in a PhD in psychology, and ideally I'm looking at the top schools that offer financial support. However, math is going to be a very major stumbling block to a decent GRE score. I have *some* relevant work experience but from quite a way back; a few publications as a second author that are old, in poor journals and not completely relevant... My GPAs are good (4.0 Masters, 3.9 undergrad) but I don't think that'll be enough....
