QualJock

Thank you for the warm welcome! I am an interesting college applicant in that I have very good SAT scores (2200s, including an 800 Critical Reading, hence the QualJock moniker), but a subpar GPA at 3.2 unweighted (though with a decent upward trend). Much of this is due to my significant ADHD, which was only diagnosed my sophomore year (I had been a straight A student through 8th grade, so there was no previous reason to suspect I had ADHD). Due to the first real struggles of my academic life I felt lost and did not respond well. My school's competitive atmosphere (a regular US News and World Report top 100 public High School) also contributed to my anxiety. In short, I am mostly here because of the Economics PhD forum (I fell in love with the subject last year) and hope to pursue one after college. However, I suspect I will look at the SAT section if I do a post-graduate year to improve my GPA and SAT (I'm applying to a few) or if I try to "transfer up" to a more competitive school.
