  1. If you are doing a Phd simply to land a job and get paid well, I have doubts about your motivation and determination. But regarding your profile, if you don't have much math background, I think it would be a good idea to at least show that you have the potential to handle the math somewhere in your application package.
  2. You are young and you have plenty of time to build up your credentials. HughAkston's suggestions are right on target and I would recommend pretty much the same. Good luck in two years.
  3. I called UT to withdraw my application (finance) a couple days ago and they said they were planning to get results out by the end of Wednesday. Hope this helps some of you.
  4. From my understanding, decisions will be posted around Mar 15. Offers are based purely on application material and no interviews have been conducted so far.
  5. Are you talking about UT Austin Finance? Because I called their program director yesterday and he told me that they haven't made any decisions/offers yet.
  6. "Hi everyone, I've been lingering in the background here for a while and I finally registered! I've applied to Operations Management programmes in business schools. I've got multiple rejections so far but I need your help in comparing two of the more likely ones I have left- DOTM at UCLA and OM at CMU. Any ideas on how to go about comparing would be very helpful! All the best guys! " Quite sure UCLA has already sent out some offers.
  7. Hey guys, does anyone have any news/updates regarding WUSTL and UCLA (operations)? Are they interviewing/admitting people right now or have they already done that? Thanks.
  8. Yeah, from what I've heard, most people who got accepted there last year did the priority deadline application. The odds for regular deadline applicant seem to be much lower. But don't feel bad, something good will come through eventually.
  9. Thanks for the suggestions. Just out of curiosity, for those of you that have contacted faculty members at an earlier stage, did it help with the application? Personally, I feel that unless you really hit it off with the faculty member you've contacted, the influence on one's application is quite minimal. :peach: Anyways, gook luck everyone. Hope something good happens to all of us.
  10. The waiting is slowly devouring me. Do you guys think it's a good idea to just take the initiative and contact faculty members with overlapping research interests? Some people have recommended this to me, but I'm not sure how effective this approach is. Any thoughts, guys?
  11. thanks for the info. that really does make me feel better.
  12. Just wondering, are interviews always required for admissions? I mean, my best friend just got into MIT without an interview. But since he is a physics major, I'm not so sure if the same thing applies to business programs.
  13. Probably decision science or financial modeling. Would you mind sharing your profile and schools/area of interest?
