  1. Hi, guys! I will go to BGSE for Msc in Economics this fall. Now I have some questions about this program. 1. As I know, it is a really decent program but hard to survive. I read some books about Intermediate Micro/Macroeconomics and basic Econometrics, like RĀ·Varian, Dornbusch, Wooldridge before. Should I read some books advanced, like MWG now? Or good understanding of the intermediate leve would be enough and I should spend more time on Maths and Stata. 2. What percentage students can pursue PhD in UPF directly? What about the network in UPF? 3. Actually I am interested in Behavioral Economics and Experimental Economics. I know UPF is famous for macro research. How about behavioral and experimental research, compared with Tinbergen, Tilburg and LSE? Thanks a lot~
  2. Thanks for your reply. I just contacted BGSE to ask about MAS. It turns out MAS has been canceled. Instead, there will be a program called MRes as a part of PhD courses in UPF. Here is the email, "the MAS will not be offered in 2013-14, and that's why the information in the web page has been deleted. If you are admitted to the PhD, you will be required to take a second year of advanced courses, the so called MRes (Master of Research in Economics, Finance and Management). The MRes in intended to be the coursework, and the PhD, the thesis stageExceptionally, a student can be admitted to the MRes only, and depending on his performance in the MRes get admission to the PhD afterwards In any case, is a very demanding master with few positions available" A little tricky, since I am not sure if I will pursue my PhD in UPF.
  3. Hey, First, I wish all applicants this year good luck~ I just got an admission letter from Barcelona GSE, Msc in Economics. It is a little surprising, since I think I have neither GRE nor strong academic background, like excellent performance in Math classes. Considering my weak foundation, I may need more time to study step by step before my PhD application, so 1 year program may be a liitel too tense. As I heard, Barcelona GSE or UPF had a 1 year MAS(Master of Advanced Studies) after Msc. But I didn't find any information about this program on their website. I wonder if MAS is still available, and I'd like to know more details. Thanks~
