    Probability

PROMISE has four consonants and three vowels. 1. Arrange the consonants like this: _ C _ C _ C _ C _ As you can see, there are four places for the consonants so they can be arranged in 4! ways. 2. To keep the vowels from being placed together, arrange them in the five _ spots around the consonants. Since there are only three vowels and five spaces, you can arrange them in 5P3 ways. 3. Multiply the two arrangements together. 4!*5P3=1440
  2. Nevermind. I figured it out, no thanks to any of you. 12C5*6!*4! thanks for nothing.

    GMAT score

Define "decent university." Something to note...some idiot got into Harvard with a 490 gmat last year. You scored higher than that person/moron. But anyway, yes, you should retake the gmat. Unless the rest of your application is super strong, a 550 will hurt you. Certainly, high scores do not really help students matriculate to top schools, but low scores certainly cast doubt upon an applicant's MBA aptitude. Raise your score to a level within the range of your target school. Then focus on the rest of your application.
  4. I'm having a lot of trouble making my answer look like the OA. Can someone help? Here's the problem: In how many different ways can 12 people be seated at two tables with one seating 7 and the other seating 5? OA is 13,685,760, which, I think, comes from 12P5*4!*3!. Prime factorization of the OA yields 2^10*3^5*5*11, which I figured must look something like (12*11*10*9*8*4*4*3*3). Anybody want to help me out with this problem?

    Game day advice

I just finished taking the gmat. I scored Q45V41 710. Here's my problem: I have spent the past month preparing for the exam. My Kaplan scores range from 730-780. My Mgmat scores range from 760-790. I took both GMAT Prep exams this week, scoring 760 and 780. My Quant scores are never below 49, and my verbal scores are almost always in the 99% range. Today, while testing, I couldn't focus on the questions in front of me. I had to re-read each question several times before answering. I was anticipating a score ranging from 750-790, since almost all my scores fell within that range. Yet, my worst score came on the actual GMAT. So my question to all of you out there is this: What advice do you have to help me calm down enough to perform the way I perform without the pressure? I'm choking on the pressure right now and need to figure out how to figure out how to do better.
