  1. Well, I have a BBA from a good school with a specialization in organization studies. I've taken three stats courses and done two independent research projects (no publications) with very strong grades. Does that help much?
  2. Since undergraduate business student don't have the same opportunities to participate in research that psychology students get, what can we do to improve our chances of getting into good PhD programs in organization studies? I have strong grades, GMAT and work experience. Is that good enough? Or should I be doing something else?
  3. Hi, I'm thinking of applying to PhD programs in organizational behavior. After looking through faculty profiles of OB departments, I've noticed that a lot of the faculty have undergraduate degrees in psychology. I'm curious as to why so few of them have undergraduate business degrees. Having done my undergrad in business, I'm wondering if I would be at a disadvantage. Would I have a weaker understanding of micro-OB? Or would I stand out from the crowd with a business degree? I'm just wondering how that would affect getting into PhD programs and then getting hired as a professor. Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the reply evergreen! If I applied in December while in the MSc program and didn't get into some of the schools I am aiming for, then would it hurt my chances when reapplying the following year? Do they look down upon applicants who have applied and been rejected before? I'm hesitant to apply for PhD programs only after graduating from the MSc program since the year in between seems like a waste of time. But then again I don't want to hurt my application by applying before I have research experience.
  5. Hi, I'm thinking of applying to Queen's University's MSc program in organizational behavior. I figured it would be a good way to test out the academic research path before investing so many years into a PhD program. I also thought it might give me an advantage when applying to PhD programs, especially since MSc students are required to produce a research paper of publishable quality by then end. However, PhD applications are typically due in December, while any research an MSc student could publish wouldn't be done until long after applications are sent. With that in mind, how much would doing an MSc help in getting into top US PhD programs?
