  1. Hi, thanks for the input. Is one subject preferred to another? Could research, volunteering, etc help? Thanks again.
  2. Does anyone have any advice on how to recover from a low undergrad GPA? Thanks so much!
  3. That sounds like an interesting read. I'll have to look it up.
  4. Thanks for responding. I'm only interested in academia, and I'm currently swaying back and forth between behavioral econ and neuroeconomics. It seems to me that statistics would be better for neuroecon, and economics would be better for behavioral, but I could be completely off. What do you think?
  5. Which one is the best route for econometrics research?: MS in Economics/ PhD in Statistics **or** MS in Statistics/ PhD in Economics **or** Neither... Suggestions?
  6. Lol.. Finally someone who's not ashamed of his/her ego. We need more like ya! Behavioral Econ, right? Do you think behavorial economics will heavily influence public policy in the future?
  7. Why economics? What are you hoping to accomplish with your research and why?
  8. Wow... well this was definitely a lot for me to take in being the newbie that I am. :) Thanks to everyone for contributing and giving me a lot to think about. I have one more question: what about behavioral econometrics? Any thoughts on the future of it?
  9. Thanks to everyone who answered my original questions. I have concluded from your answers that I won't have time to compete competitively, but, fortunately, I will have time for a social life. :) Speaking of intellectuals, what are most doctoral (economics) students like? Meaning, have you noticed a trend in political ideologies, hobbies, religious beliefs? I know that the field is diverse, but do they tend to sway one way more than the other? I'm just curious to know what type of people I will spending most of my time with.
  10. I don't mean to just play for fun. I mean, do they have time to seriously compete in sports like golf or baseball? Also, I've been told several times that doctoral students are poor. How poor is poor(stipend, costs, etc.)?
