There's a very handy pocket-sized book that is very useful while studying:
Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia. The latest 2006 edition's cover is purple.
Its up-to-date, brief but covers essentially what a pharmacist should know. Most pharmacists use them as reference while on the job. You could use them to help you with brand names as you encounter them when you study.
So as you study, lets say you are reading APhA, since that book does not always mention all the brandnames as they discuss the generics, use the Tarascon to easily find the drugs and all the basic info you need, as well as what you need to note for counselling patients.
It also comes in PDA-user format... Speaking of PDA, if you have one, look for Epocrates. They have free downloads that you basically need.
There are other pocket references out there like the Prentice Hall's Drug Guide. But I prefer the Tarascon coz its really handy. You could take it along with you anywhere, at work in your lab coat or while in study, it fits in any small purse. Its just as small as a Reader's Digest. But you'll be surprised how remarkably useful it is.
Good luck.
