  1. I am having a tough time deleting a post. I could only see Edit Post option. Can somebody advise me how to delete a Post? Thanks in advance
  2. I find your advice quite useful. Getting a Job in these countries is also one of the main reasons. I think Canada has one of the most favourable visa policy i.e 3 years work permit after graduation. and yes, did my masters in Finance from India. I googled some of the best Financial economics/Quantitative Finance Programme and found very interesting since they doesn't have any accounts and also most of these programmes are CFA Institute partner programmes. I have excluded all 2 year programmes from previous list like Mcgill, Queen's, LSE, ANU to reduce the opportunity cost and added some other programmes in the revised list in order of preference:- 1. Master of Financial Economics : Oxford (Class profile seems to be more matured and hence fierce competition; could be a good candidate for 2014 class but the risk is worth taking) University of Toronto (atleast, somehow you have made it possible to include this university in the list; my most preferred university in canada) 2. Quantitative Finance :- NUS ( Best in terms of curriculum among all the programmes that I have mentioned as it is a beautiful amalgamation of Economics, Statistics and Finance and also it's quite cheap relatively. 3. Economics :- HKUST and HKU ( wants to keep it as a fallback option, moreover Hongkong is my most preferred place to work). 4. Financial Engineering :- NUS and Nanyang (Though eligible; seems to be more suitable for Engineers or Mathematics graduates.I dont want to venture into some unexplored area at this point of time; just want to capitalize on what I already know. It's good to know new things but not at the cost of loosing something else which you already treasure. Please comment on my choices. I have excluded deliberately USA ( would like to pursue MBA from here), Europe except UK, Australia (doesn't fit into scheme of things in the revised list). One last question, As you know, all the above mentioned programme requirements are undergraduation in Economics/Maths/any other quantative subject. Do you think doing B.A (English literature) would be seen as a diasadvantage? or Masters of Fiancial Analysis, CFA & FRM would help to overcome this demerit.I have scored very high on subjects such as Quantitative methods, Statistics and Economics and am totally comfortable with the required analytical rigour. Thanks in again for your awesome reply in the last post and would expect more such Intelligent advice.
  3. have given due consideration to opportunity cost while finalizing the revised list.
  4. Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum. Infact, this is my first post. Before I write my query, let me share some details about myself. Education:- BA in English literature, Masters of Financial Analysis, CFA level II, FRM; Work Experience - 1.5 years as a M&A analyst with a major Indian corporate house in the Energy sector; Age - 25 years. After having studied finance for the last couple of years, I have developed a keen interest in economics.I have studied Economics and Quant's especially Statistics in the Post graduation, CFA and FRM. I am looking forward to apply for MSc. in economics from reputed university outside India in 2013. I have identified Masters prorgamme of following Economics department :- 1. UK :- Diploma+Mphil (Cambridge), Msc 2 years (LSE), Diploma+ MSc (Warwick). 2 years seems to be quite long, though willing to take the risk if scholarship/support is provided. 2. Canada :- Queens and Mcgill. Not sure, whether they will take me in their 1 year programme. Most likely would have to attend a qualifying year.Don't know about their reputaion and placement. 3. Hongkong :- HKU and HKUST. seems to be my best bet currently as they take candidates with non - economics backgound in their MSc. programme. But little worried about their reputation, course rigour and placement. Please advise will it be easier or difficult to find job in Hongkong after the completion of the course. 4.Australia :- ANU (Diploma +Masters) I am in a very well paid job currently, so the priority is to go for 1 year Masters. But willing to undergo 2 years programme if Scholarship is provided and the programme is worldclass with good placement. I want to use this masters as a terminal degree in economics. Moreover, I will go for MBA after 5 years. Please advise the best suitable department among these as per my profile; you are free to add any other programme which are not mentioned . Also, please comment on whether it makes economic sense for me to pursue masters in economics . Any advise would be highly appreciated.
