Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum. Infact, this is my first post. Before I write my query, let me share some details about myself.
Education:- BA in English literature, Masters of Financial Analysis, CFA level II, FRM; Work Experience - 1.5 years as a M&A analyst with a major Indian corporate house in the Energy sector; Age - 25 years.
After having studied finance for the last couple of years, I have developed a keen interest in economics.I have studied Economics and Quant's especially Statistics in the Post graduation, CFA and FRM. I am looking forward to apply for MSc. in economics from reputed university outside India in 2013. I have identified Masters prorgamme of following Economics department :-
1. UK :- Diploma+Mphil (Cambridge), Msc 2 years (LSE), Diploma+ MSc (Warwick). 2 years seems to be quite long, though willing to take the risk if scholarship/support is provided.
2. Canada :- Queens and Mcgill. Not sure, whether they will take me in their 1 year programme. Most likely would have to attend a qualifying year.Don't know about their reputaion and placement.
3. Hongkong :- HKU and HKUST. seems to be my best bet currently as they take candidates with non - economics backgound in their MSc. programme. But little worried about their reputation, course rigour and placement. Please advise will it be easier or difficult to find job in Hongkong after the completion of the course.
4.Australia :- ANU (Diploma +Masters)
I am in a very well paid job currently, so the priority is to go for 1 year Masters. But willing to undergo 2 years programme if Scholarship is provided and the programme is worldclass with good placement. I want to use this masters as a terminal degree in economics. Moreover, I will go for MBA after 5 years.
Please advise the best suitable department among these as per my profile; you are free to add any other programme which are not mentioned . Also, please comment on whether it makes economic sense for me to pursue masters in economics .
Any advise would be highly appreciated.
