  2. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People behave differently when they wear different clothes. Do you agree that different clothes influence the way people behave? Use specific examples to support your answer. My response: It is believed all over the world that attire doesn’t influence the people’s conduct to others. But, when we give a close look to each person, that is not the case, so to speak generally, I believe that people behave differently when they wear different clothes. First of all, with different accoutre comes different responsibilities. Police, army personal, doctors etc. have different uniforms. When they work, they wear their own uniforms with respect and they tend to behave like one. For example, my friend’s father is a police personal. During his non-working hours, he wears normal clothing, behaves very kindly and has a calm expression on his face. But, during working hours, he wears his uniform and without consciousness, he becomes strict and has a stern look on his face; just to indicate that he is a police personal and no one should mess around him. In addition to different responsibilities, respect varies with different attire. For example, when I’m with friends I wear a casual wear and don’t give much concern to by conduct around them. But, when I wear white shirt or a suit, I start to give more importance to my behavior. This shows that, if a man wears a suit or white shirt, the society expects him to act like a gentleman. This makes most of the people to change the way they act when they wear such kinds of dress. Finally, most people try to mimic the costumes of their favourite movie stars. Many people around the world tend to follow their favorite movie stars style of dressing. For example, my friend is a big fan of Rajanikanth, a Tamil actor in India. When he dresses like him, he tends to mimic of the character from Rajanikanth’s movie. This illustrates that dressing like their favourite hero makes them to behave like one of them. To sum up, based upon the argument above, I’m of the opinion that with different clothing, the behavior of the people changes without their consciousness.
  3. People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experiences, career preparation, and increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Personally, I believe that people attend college or university for myriad of reasons. Most important reason for a student attending a college or a university is explained in the following paragraphs. To start with, most people attend college or university to increase their knowledge. People, who have knack for learning new things, tend to attend college or university for gaining knowledge. Such people are very much interested in research and well educated professors in the university provide them with a good platform to enhance their knowledge level, so that they can understand the world better and also get a job in research institutes. In addition to gaining knowledge, many people pursue a program just to increase their pay grade. People with good educational qualification are preferred by many companies. Therefore, many pursue a program in a university just to get a degree, so that they can find a better job with higher pay grade. For example, if a bachelor degree can fetch a salary around $8000 per annum, a Master’s degree can fetch double that salary and a doctorate degree can fetch a lot more! In addition to knowledge and enhancing pay grades, many attend college or universities to make new friends and gain experience. As thousands and thousands of people attend a university or a college, there are many chances for a student to make new friends, so that they can together have fun or start up a new company and so on. By interacting with many people, they also gain experience since each and every student has a different background. But such kinds of people are a few in numbers. To sum up, I believe that people attend university or college mostly to gain knowledge and to enhance their pay grade. Though there are many other reasons for attending a college or a university, number of people attending college for that reason in comparatively negligible.

  7. Hi, I took the practice test 2 from powerprep and I just scored 145 in verbal and 161 in quants. I have only 2 days left for my exam. Is it possible to get into any of the top 50 universities with this score? Because I heard that you will get almost the same score which you obtain in the practice test. Is it true? Thanks in Advance
