What is the probability that a particular man will NOT be in the group and a particular lady WILL BE in the group ? A. 1C0 *4C3 * 5C2 / (5C3 * 5C3) B. 1C0 * 1C1 * 5C2 / (6C3) C. 4C3 * 5C2 / (5C3 * 6C3) Ans. For the solution, I am able to get the denominator term, I am even able to get the condition for men i.e. 4C3 but I am not able to evaluate the condition for women i.e. 5C2. Please help. 3. ServerG Thanks for your reply. I saw this image but did not understand your point. The image just says how to attempt QC questions. Regards.
  4. Hey Thanks Jimmy for the reply. Still there is one problem. As we know, each number is a multiple of itself. So if 2n=7 => n = 7/2 In this case only A and D seems to be the answer.
  5. Please explain these two problems along with the approach to solve them. 1. If the sum of two integers is 30, then their product may be- A. -5400 B. -1000 C. 200 D. 224.75 E. 250 Ans. 2. 7. 1. A : The number of seconds in 7 hours. B : The number of hours in 52 weeks. I. A is greater II. B is greater III. Both Equal IV. Can't be determined Ans. 2. The area of one face of the cube is 35. A: Total surface area of the cube B: Total volume of the cube Ans. I have doubts in these questions as follows. 1. A = 25200 seconds B = 8736 Hours The answer is A. How can we say that 25200 seconds are greater than 8736 hours ? If we convert the second quantity in the equivalent seconds then the Answer becomes B. My answer was B. Please explain. 2. A = 210 meter square B = 207.06 meter cube The answer is again A. How can we compare a surface area to the volume ? My answer was D. Please explain these to me. These problems got me stumped. Thanks in advanced.

  9. Hi Rakesh My friend just had a vague idea about the question type. It was the pattern of the question. The problem statement was something else. So the options are also recreated as well. I am not sure what kind does this question type falls in so that I can give you the exact idea of the question.
  10. Hi All I have heard someone saying that a new type of question has been introduced in the exam. This is somewhat like - There are two persons A and B. Both of them say like A - Use of Google impedes natural thinking so leads to deteriorate thinking skills. B - Use of Google improves productivity so deterioration of thinking skills is ok. Person A and B differ in the meaning of which word ? 1. Productivity 2. Thinking Skills 3. .... 4. ... 5. ... This is the rough format of the question. Question statement may differ. The guy said that this question stumped him. Someone has any idea what these type of questions called ?? Atleast tell me some keyword by which I can search these question types on Google. Thanks in Advance.
  11. The common belief of some linguists that each language is a perfect vehicle for the thoughts of the nation speaking it is in some ways the exact counterpart of the conviction of the Manchester school of economics that supply and demand will regulate everything for the best. Just as economists were blind to the numerous cases in which the law of supply and demand left actual wants unsatisfied, so also many linguists are deaf to those instances in which the very nature of a language calls forth misunderstandings in everyday conversation, and in which, consequently, a word has to be modified or defined in order to present the idea intended by the speaker: "He took his stick-no, not John's, but his own" No language is perfect, and if we admit this truth, we must also admit that it is not unreasonable to investigate the relative merits of different languages or of different details in languages. Q. The misunderstanding presented by the author in lines 13-14 is similar to which of the following? I. X uses the word "you" to refer to a group, but Y thinks that X is referring to one person only. II. X mistakenly uses the word "anomaly" to refer to a typical example, but Y knows that "anomaly" means "exception." III. X uses the word "bachelor" to mean "unmarried man" but Y mistakenly thinks that bachelor means "unmarried woman." (A) I only (B) II only © III only (D) I and II only (E) II and III only Correct Answer : Please explain the line of reasoning to be taken to solve this question. I can not relate even a single choice to the problem statement. TIA
  12. The current era of "opening up" isn't new but the norm.
  13. Thanks a lot Brent. That was insightful.
  14. Yes Brent, you are right. The population is actually decreasing. So the question asks about the growth rate (which can be negative). This question indirectly asks for how many persons die every second, reciprocal of which will give one person dies every __ second. Tell me if you need any further explanation.
