  1. So are you saying with my low GPA undergrad there is absolutely no way? I thought some schools only looked at the last 60 hours, which for me would be substantially higher. Would that not help my chances? Again, thank you all for the time and I know my profile needs work
  2. Thank you all for the comments My school's part time MBA program was ranked top 75 by Bloomberg. Although I am full time. I wanted to do the Macc they have but I was not not able to get accepted into that program. Also, I did finance because it was the next best thing to accounting which I was not accepted to. I would love to do research for a living and teach accounting at any school. I definately have the drive and my undergrad was low due to me working moving out from my parents house and no one in my family before me went to college except my mother who has an associates. I have worked hard the last few years to get a 3.891 GPA and will graduate in July. I plan on getting 4 more A's in my last four classes, two of which I am taking now. I did nnot take much math other than business calc and stats although I am good at math. I was in the math olympics as a child and will do exceptionally better on the GMAT next time. Is that true that if I retake the exam they will send my old scores with my new scores together. I have never heard that before. I hope not but if so oh well. I did get an A in auditing which less than 20% of people do at my school and that professor wrote my first LOR to get into the program I am in now. Also, I will get my CPA some time in the next few years.
  3. Honestly I was young and did not know what I wanted to do when I was an undergrad and know I cannot change my undergrad gpa. But I will do whatever it takes to get a phd. I have a LOR from my auditing professor and can get two more from finance professors one of whom is the department chair. I plan to sit for the cpa soon and I got the 600 on the gmat without studying at all. I am sure I can get a 700 and definately much matter on the Q. I have taken business calc and a few stats classes. I have taken alot of finance and accounting classes and have always done well in finance. I had a few C's and B's in accounting as an undergrad but my last year as an undergrad was much better than the first three. Also, I tutor undergrad accounting students now and do community service projects. I have looked up all the accounting phd programs and a few have average GMAT scores that are actually under 600 i.e. Jackson State and Louisiana Tech. Can anyone comment on these programs are others like them. I will try and apply for the 2014 year for all the programs I can and will try and get some work experience between now and then. Thank for all the comments and dont worry I know I need some work but I am extremely bright and I WILL get a phd in accounting one day whether it be next year or twenty years from now it WILL happen for me. One question: If i score very high on the GMAT can I get in anywhere for 2014 admission. If so, what kind of score will I need: 700? 720? ...750? 780? What?
  4. Undergrad GPA: 2.6 at medium sized state school USA (not top ranked) Undergrad majors: Accounting and Finance (dual major) MBA in Finance GPA: 3.891 currently enrolled same school as above Experience: none research: none member of Beta Alpha Psi GMAT: 600 (V38 83% Q 35 38%) will retake planning for 700+ (did not study first time as I was already accepted in the MBA provisionaly provided I score above 400) Please let me know if I stand a chance of getting accepted for 2014 school year and what schools should i apply for? I am hoping to get a phd in accounting but have no experience teaching or research. Any comments would be greatly appreciated i have not seen any other profiles similar to mine
