I have decided that I want to pursue a career in teaching/researching accounting. I am considering several schools at the moment: Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, U. of South Carolina (USC), Ole Miss, Rice, and U. of Houston. Here is my background:
Undergrad: SMU - BBA Accounting
GPA: 3.20
Graduate: College of Charleston - MSA
GPA: 3.60
GMAT: 650
I currently have 1 year public accounting experience and am close to passing the CPA exam. I want to complete my CPA before I begin a Ph.D. program.
So, what schools in the Southeast and Southwest fit an academic profile like mine? I know my undergraduate GPA is low. However, I do not believe it is an accurate portrayal of me as a student. I have grown as an adult and scholar since then. What is the best way to demonstrate that to admissions? Thanks for your help!
