  1. You mean the answer is A. Increased (for first blank) & a loss (for second blank)? Yes the answer is correct. You must look at the thought reverser here. The trigger word is "Although", hence the two blanks need to be filled with words of opposite nature. ie Increase and loss. For this reason, Shot up & expansion cant be there. It would have been shot up, but theres no word of similar intensity and opposite nature for the second blank.
  2. Dear YannMK , Thanks for the sharing your experience. I am sure it will help aspiring students like me who are going to appear for the exam in about a months time. And friend, you have got a great score. 321 can get you admissions at many of the top universities, so cheer up, you have compensated you Verbal score with the awesome Quants. Wish you all the luck for the AWA score.
  3. Thanks Tarun. I believe the 800 word list is same as the Barron/Kaplans. Actually I have already completed it so just revising everyday. Any other such useful links. PS: BTW guys my mock scores are ranging in between 308-310. Any more tips which can help me do better.
  4. For the last question of average..heres the explaination. Step 1. Given: Average of 11nos is 14. This means (X1+X2+.......X9+X10+X11)/11 = 14 Step 2: On cross multiplication we get (X1+X2+.......X9+X10+X11)= 14*11 = 154 Step 3: Given: Average of 9 no.s is 9. This means (X1+X2+.......X9)/9= 9, therefore, (X1+X2+.......X9)= 81 Step 4: From Step 3 & 2 we have (X1+X2+.......X9)= 81 and (X1+X2+.......X9+X10+X11)=154 Step 5: Therefore, Subtracting the above, we get X11 + X10 =73 Step 6: Average of these is 73/2= 36.5 Hope you its clear now. BTW I am not able to get the equation the question posted by you!
  5. Hello Friends, I think the thread title must have made the my intentions very clear. I want your guidance on how to tame this Vocab beast in one month. I am scoring well in my Quants section (160/165+). The marks I loose in quants is usually a result of silly mistakes which I am trying to reduce by practicing more. However I am getting just 145-149 in my Verbals. I am doing well in RCs, but the SC and SEs are driving me nuts. Thanks to my poor vocab. I have literally mugged up the Barrons/Kaplans list (frequently occurring words) and many more, but the they dont seem to be of much help. Most of the times, I encounter new words in the test. Please help me out. I would be grateful to you for the help. As for the quants, I will help you with that!
  6. Heres a list of universities which offer the courses related to your field. Regarding the courses, I am not very sure, maybe its because of my engg background. BTW I am also from India. Appearing for my GRE in Aug2013. What about you? University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO University of Delaware, Newark, DE US Army-Baylor University, Fort Sam Houston, TX University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA Arcadia University, Glenside, PA MGH Institute of Health Professions, Boston, MA Northwestern University, Chicago, IL University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL
  7. Is it a regular pentagon? And i believe by 'adding points', you meant adding sides ie. the perimeter. So the answer is (a).The inner one would have lesser perimeter though, it would be congruent with the larger one. In case of a square, the answer remains the same. The perimeter of inner square would be [(2^0.5) / (2)] times the larger one (which is a smaller quantity). Hence again the answer has to be (a) ie. The External.
  8. 7 seems to be the answer. What all were the options? Rest assured, 6 isnt the answer.
  9. Hello Biotech runner, Even i will be giving my TOEFL exam in a months time. I belong to India and am not so good at speaking section, there's one trick which you may try. Try to avoid using your native language for sometime. Whenever you get a chance, think of some topic and start fabricating it in your mind (when you do so, you are virtually speaking). Although it isnt an alternative to speaking, but to me it is helping to some extent. Good luck for your exams.
  10. Hey Friends, This is Lucky from India. I was searching for some sample GRE Issue/Arguments when I stumbled upon this site. I believe most of you must have already understood )from my UserID) that I am preparing for GRE exams. I am going through the related topics and would be soon starting a new one which is more related to a career confusion. I would be grateful if someone could help me out with the appropriate section/subforum where such a thread can be created. Being a moderator of an Automotive forum, I realize how difficult it is to manage the new members especially the naive ones. Cheers.
