  1. task: Teachers should encourage their students to question everything. I can not say unambiguously whether teachers should make their students doubt about everything or not. Such habit to doubt everything in some cases can be useful but in other cases – damaging. Doubts often lead to better knowledge, to the opportunity to discover more. If a student is not sure about something he probably will search the information, check different resources in order to find the most precise answer for the issue he is unsure with. Thus, he becomes more educated and more confident in the field that made him uncomfortable before. However, questioning everything can really hinder learning at school because it means that the student does not respect and believe his teacher enough to be sure in his words. Additionally, when a student has questions he is usually inquisitive and likes to study. In this case, it is a pleasure for a teacher to have such students in a class. But it may be not as good for a student himself. It is important for his further life, especially professional life, to be able to concentrate in some special field of study, not be interested in just everything. In sum, teachers should encourage their students to question the information given for them but do it very carefully. It is very easy for teachers instead of pushing students forward in learning just lose their position as a good teacher in the class.
  2. Don't you want to retake GRE? to improve your Q? It will help to strengthen your profile.
  3. Working experience. Real job. Not internship. Good exam results. Research. I mean serious research. Publications. Participate and win in, I don't know, competitions or smth like that in your field of study. Receive grants for your research. Nothing special. Just usual list. IMHO.
  4. No, if I understand the task correctly, 1 penny = 1 cent.
  5. If he use all of his coins he'll have 19 cents. 4*1 cent + 1*5 cents + 1*10 cents = 19 cents.
  6. If such universities as Stanford want TOEFL ibt 100, does this mean that they reject all the applicants whose score is below 100, no matter how strong are the other components of the application?
  7. I'll retake my GRE also in October )) My Q is not a lot better than yours - 161 only ((( But instead - your verbal and AW are a dream for me! So, good luck to us!
  8. Didn't see - you intend to apply to masters or PhD? Whatever, you app will be stronger if you have some publications. And it's a good idea to retake GRE and improve Q part.
  9. Hi gays! Need your help! How to solve this kind of tasks? There are 8 girls, 3 boys and 1 adult. How many ways there are to make a team of 3 girls, 2 boys and 1 adult? Thanks.
  10. I think there is no another way except learning words from the list and doing as many practice tests as you can. Good luck!
  11. Just finished my GRE )) It was my first attempt. Quantitative 161 is really a shame for me. But there was some kind of trap for me. I had been preparing using Barrons. And in Barrons there were not such tasks about standard deviation! So I didn't remember this maths topic... Verbal... I decided I want 150. I understand that I really can't do better. My memory is awful ((( 140, of course, is not serious at all.. AW results don't know yet... But I think that I was pretty good with argument task but awful with issue task. In it I even did not understand correctly the first part of the statement (forgot the translation of the key word). So, I will retake in October. It will be my last chance... But I do not want to give up and definitely will try to do my best! PS. I'm an international student from Russia. Intend to apply for the PhD in maths education. PPS. It's interesting - I was the only one who was passing GRE in my center today. I was absolutely alone in a test room )) Good luck to all of us! I believe, we can do it!
