  1. Thanks a lot for the detailed answer. I do find your suggestion very helpful. I think that subconsciously, I was applying this. But now, Ill make sure I identify the concept in terms of the query being asked. Will let you know if I improved. Thank you.:encouragement:
  2. Hello everyone. Greetings Ive just started my preps by self studying and I was going to rely solely on Manhattan CR book. Ive finished reading it as well as practicing the questions and grasped all the core concepts. I couldn't agree fully with the time taking diagram/notes method and frankly, I still solve the CR questions by: 1. Identifying the q type(thus reminding myself of the associated 2-4 key points of that type) 2. mapping the whole question in mind 3. cancelling all the negative options 4. go by instincts if still unsure Is this the proper way in your opinion? If not, should I start it all over again by referring to Kaplan books about which I've been recommended? Or do you guys recommend any other source? Thanks in anticipation.
  3. Hi, I am a s/w engg. and I live in Pune.I urgently need to start prep for GMAT. If any one can share any info about coaching classes in Pune and their tall claims, please share your valuable tips with us. Also if anyone interested in forming a study group, here is one platform. I did some research and I came to know about 2 classes: 1. Jamboree(kothrud): My friend attended Jamboree in Delhi and had good experience. so I went to enquire, place is very small. So only few students in a class. The only bummer was the attendant who was, well, quite tall claims which were suspicious. He was makin quite some unbelievable success stories which were difficult to digest. He said that in last years classroom batch, 80% scored above 700!!! But I guess people do make these claims now a days everywhere 2. Dilip Oaks: Very famous here. But the class strength is 70-80 or even more . Too much na? I think GMAT requires personal attention. Any alumni? Others can please share their advice and experiences. Thanks.
  4. Hi .I am a techie(in IT since last 2 yrs.). And its high time I start thinking clearly about my future ahead. I am currently considering the option of GMAT and MBA abroad. The decision-process is very confusing and at-times misguiding. This thread is for people facing similar issues. Ill elaborate the real issue: 1. Working in IT has its perks and u are just lost in time bieng employed. Lots of work to be busy and decent pay makin it difficult to go anywhere else. Frankly, right now I have no idea what future prospects are when I will switch from technical field to a management workplace. Will I be a misfit? Will there be limited career options? 2. Also is the gamble(leaving job, paying huge sum to study further) worth the risk? This becomes more relevant in times of global economic crisis. 3. For a techie, GRE a better option than GMAT? I encourage people facing the above three issues to discuss further for common cause. People with similar issues in the past are most welcome to share their valuable advice and experiences. Thanks.
