  1. It's all behavioral and "walk me through your cv" style. Know why you want to do this program and know what you're signing yourself up for. Do not dream up s***. You will quickly get buried in that dream and be largely unsatisfied if you get in and don't know exactly what you want out of this. It is extremely quant intensive and a large part of the curriculum is dictated by the program directors -electives make up only about 25% of the course load. If you really want to get in and if you feel that this program aligns well with your goals, then make sure to get that across in your interview. I would also recommend that you have a few inquisitive questions prepared for your interviewer as well. Here are some i would recommend: "Given that the western mfe is marketed as a cross between an academic and professional degree, what is the weighting of each? Will students predominantly be occupied by rigorous academia? Or are there courses that allow students to pursue interests in specific fields of the industry? i.e are there electives geared towards those motivated by S&T? are there courses that teach valuation and financial modelling for students interested in careers in corporate finance/banking? risk management? etc. " "how well integrated are the four departments that respectively make up the program? what are some notable faculty from each and how active are they in the on-going management and development of the program? can students freely take classes within each department as electives? has there ever been a time when students have been unable to do so? if so, why?" There are lots of schools out there willing to take your $ -all of them have their merits. You should only concern yourself with identifying if those merits reflect your best interests and if any one particular program will position you to better pursue those interests. Then again, if you just want to get in and figure it out later, then assemble this narrative of yours and appear as a loyal, knowledge-thirsty, driven team-player who wants to be a flag-bearer for the program and help transform it into the leader of financial economics across Canada. They'll eat that pi right up.
  2. Hi everyone, As admission decisions roll out for a number of graduate school programs, I am curious to see how many people have applied to the Western Mfe program, who has/has yet to hear back, where people stand with accepting their offers, and what other programs they have applied to. I am new to the Urch forums so I'm not quite sure how much of an audience this post will receive, but here goes nothing! Hope to hear back from some of ya!
