  1. hey chirag. i read both your essays.. liked them. both are well drafted but i liked the issue essay the most. you are using good word power and cogent style. i would give 5 for ur issue essay. on the other hand the argument essay was fine. you can ameliorate here. there was a point you mentioned twice "The enrolment of the college also depends on various other factors such as the amenities provided, the quality of education imparted" yu should add a few more fallacies and assumptions rather the repeating them. but overall if these were your first essays...then keep it up man.. way to go ...nice work :)
  2. HOARD according to dictionary means "reserve in the mind for future use" . so should'nt it be B . ? ?
  3. To understand the most important characteristics of the society, one must study its major cities. Given a choice to select a place to live in, I will go for a place away from hustle and bustle of tiring city life. Certainly even most of my contemporaries will say otherwise, so people of different age group will no doubt go for their own different choice. So clear it is that people choose their society and their place to live in precisely in accordance with their inclination. Hence it does not need any further warranting and justification that cities reflect the societies they hold. Therefore to better understand the characteristic of a society, the study of cities, their past as well as the present, is critically important. Every city has its unique culture, tradition, and peculiarities which forms its idiosyncrasy. These peculiarities fetch the community of parallel interests. Like New York is known as “the city that never sleeps”, for its ceaseless and uninterrupted city din which goes on day and night, and New Mexico is famous as “the land of enchantments”, for its enchanting rich history and diverse culture. On the other hand Indian cities like Varanasi, Gaya, etc. are marked for their religious significance and Delhi has both historical and modernized architecture. These different aspects of various cities tend people to live here and hence societies are formed. Therefore if one wants to study the characteristics of a society, knowing about its major cities, their history and contemporary scenarios, would give a conspicuous idea about their inclinations and lifestyles. History of any place, we can see, place a crucial role in deciding employment aspects also. For example cities rich in underground oil content must have many oil purifying plants and refineries which suggests the major occupation of people of nearby areas. Likewise land rich in soil nutrients promote agriculture industry. These all examples clearly tell us the importance of historical and geographical aspects of cities in fetching communities. Moreover religious significance of a city and the major cities nearby also affect the population density of societies especially in countries with religious background like India. People of particular religious affiliations tend to live in places with rich religious historical background. Like Hindus tend to live in cities like Varanasi, Dwarka etc. and Islamic people reside in Ajmer and nearby areas. Countries like Saudi-Arabia, UAE, Pakistan, Afghanistan are home of many Islamic and Arabic communities. These all statistics suggest the influence of city cultures on the societies that live in. The assumption which might some people hold in the contrary of this statement could be the unsteadiness of the people and their lives and the race for bread and butter and betterment. But this does not gainsay the fact that cities play a major role in delineating their areas of work and hope for their betterment. Hence it is absolutely baseless to claim that the cities have no influence on the societies the hold. And if this influence in noticeable, then the study of major cities is of paramount importance for understanding the societies who live in.

  6. The best way to teach is to praise positive actions and ignore negative ones. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position. The best way to teach is to praise positivity, no doubt! But ignorance of negative thoughts? I reckon that will be foolish. Probably the assumption which can arouse doubts in many minds is the adage “ignorance is bliss” but this is proverb cannot be moulded in this sense. Ignoring negative actions just deteriorated the process of development and hence can never be considered the best way to teach. A fact very common apprises us that negative actions or thoughts do not need shelter for mushrooming. Even the slightest negativity can sprout and distend to big crimes if not reprimanded at the embryonic state. This is the only reason why guardians admonish the progeny and the teachers scorn students for every disgraceful action. Child not condemned for stealing a pencil at first will surely go for money the next time because the ignorance of (this small crime) served as a seed plantation in him for negativity. Praise and recognition for the positive actions is no doubt of supreme importance. But concomitantly the opprobrium for negative deeds can’t be precluded either. This is the reason for enforcement of laws which punish the unmoral citizenry. There are separate laws for minor crimes and for crimes done by minors. This is the universally acknowledged way to treat unhuman and negative deeds. If ignored, the law and order will be in jeopardy. If at one side we have awards like noble prize, Oscars, khel-ratna, president awards for those who deserve to be acknowledged, then we also do have imprisonment and death sentence to the people who break down the moral conduct. The praise helps positivity to proliferate in the environment and scorn for the bad helps to set in good example for anyone to find. Therefore to teach good conduct and ethics of life it is equally important to condemn the unsocial negative actions as it is to promote positive deeds. This brings in an environment that increases positivity and denounces negativity in individuals.
  7. As people rely more and more on technology for solving problems, the ability for humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate. Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider which ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position. Technology is itself carrying with it the Greek term LOGY, that everyone knows means “Study”. How can the ability to think deteriorate for study? Hence I strongly refute the argument that the ability of humans to think for themselves can even slightly diminish with the waxing of technology. Technology is the fruit of evolution and evolution itself requires intense ability to think and contemplate on options. For example the deadly diseases-their study, preventive measures, cure- all require much meticulous and obdurate efforts by scientists. Likewise creation of smallest pen to invention of breath taking space shuttles require pedantic and punctilious efforts. All these examples clearly demonstrate the burgeoning of human minds with the mushrooming of technology. Another example of increasing prudence in humans is Internet. The tech- giants like Google has made people so addict that even before taking the slightest decision one chooses to refer to the pros and cons provided online. We can daily see people referring to various pharmacy relate websites before taking a medicine. The reason why might some people condemn the dependency of technology is because they aver that over dependence make people lazy and ludicrous. Even if one agrees to above allegations, this does not at all delineates that it jeopardizes the ability to think for ourselves. On the contrary with the invention of computers, calculators, etc., which are condemned by some for increasing lethargy, the level of complexity in the problems has also increased that calls for high level thinking. Hence technology could be for once targeted for promoting laziness and increasing health problems but that too has nothing to do with the human ability to think. More meticulous and rigorous developments should be done. Technological development is the only tool that can lead to sustainable development for future generations.
