  1. I received an email 10 minutes ago, to look at website and blablabla rejected you might want to wait just a bit more..
  2. Thanks a lot. I meant if having an interview was a necessary condition for being admitted in any phd Econ from Econ deps.
  3. Are interviews a compulsory part to undertake? Are they just for UVA?
  4. Thanks both. I will post add information as they reply to my emails. Also, it was not to be filled online.
  5. I wrote them some days ago. But they did not reply yet (I understand it's holiday for everyone, but still I am frustrated about it). thanks both
  6. Hi, I was completing the application to BU but then I did not know about the "international applicant cover sheet". Anyone ne can post some details? Is it a compulsory document for application? Is it sent by postal or email? Phd Econ at BU, if admitted provides 5years funding, so why do they ask about financial resources?
  7. Hello everyone and happy new year! I applied to NW PHD ECON but I realized I submitted a wrong CV file. Meaning that they require a page of most advanced courses in math an Econ at the end of the cv. Is this a serious problem?
  8. Hello everybody, as many of us are applying for admission for phd, we all had to ask professors to write us a LOR. Now, I have some questions about the after of a LOR. is it ethically correct to give the writers some gift? Coupons? Is yes, what kind of gift to make? and what €/$ range should it be? Thank you all ps should it be after lor of after results?
  9. Thank you. I actually don't know very well what analysis stands for. I mean, can someone provide me a sort of topics' list of a regular analysis course? I might have studied the topics in the mathematics courses (at my uni the courses are just named math 1 , math 2 ...)
  10. Hello everybody, time is running out for everyone who wish to start phd in fall 2015. I have a question to be addressed. I'd appreciate replies from both seniors and applicants. First, what are the pros/cons of going for PhD in Econ Department rather than in business school (such as stern, wharton, hbs...)? I have been looking around for while and some b-schools have doctoral student whose research area are applied micro, game theory, ind organiz, development econ, public econ...(this is really confusing me)* which category is more worthy in terms of future salary? Probability to be admitted in SOM/b-sch compared to Econ dep? How ow to choose b2n the 2? *course requirement are very similar to phd from Econ dep
  11. I find myself comfortable in stating everything in 3/4 sentences. I believe I have really poor language skills, even in native language:yuck:
  12. I will take TOEFL next week (very late) For what concerns SOP, as I said before, I am in troubles since I have this unique synthesis skill:culpable::culpable::culpable:
  13. Hi there, It's my first time here. I would really appreciate any advice and comments. PROFILE: Type of Undergrad: B.A. Honors Economics, Italian research private university well known Undergrad GPA: 97% Top 5% wrt colleagues Type of Grad: M.A. (1-year) same institution as above Grad GPA: 90% Top 10% wrt colleagues GRE: 170 Q 155 V 3A:doh: Undergrad Math Courses: Calculus I (A+), Calculus II and Linear Algebra (A) Econ Courses: 3 Micro (B A- A) 3 Macro (A A- A) 2 Stat/Econometrics (A+ A+) 3 Finance (A A A+) Grad Math Courses: 1 Math (A) - const opt, unconst opt, ode, de, bellman Econ Courses: 2 Micro (C A+) 2 Macro (C B) Econometrics © Letters of Recommendation: 1 Princeton PhD, 1 Columbia PhD, 1 Cambridge PhD Research Experience: Honors thesis Teaching Experience: None but private lessons Research Interests: Micro, Public, Growth SOP: Other: Applying to: LSE, Stanford, Columbia, NYU, NW, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Duke, Brown, Cornell, UCLA, UCSD and many others So my weak points are obviously bad writing skills, I still have trouble in writing my SOP. I really find it difficult to express myself in many words. I really prefer numbers and non open questions. My strengths would be strong quantitative skills I don't know if I am overestimating myself so that I included top 10 schools. Thanks to ZYX
