  1. I don't plan to take the GRE or GMAT again but build on my research credentials rather. What kind of research oriented masters can I seek admission into? There are M Phil programs in UK, Australia and New Zealand, MRES and Msc in Europe. I am aiming at institutions in global rankings 75-150 for the research oriented masters as of now. My goal is to shine in my research program publish good research work with good professors and build a reputation. I am passionate about economics even so what could be a good way to begin in the field of Economics? I am in for the long haul no matter how many years it takes, that is why seeking expert guidance.
  2. Dear Team, I look for expert advice from you. I am an MBA in finance with 10 yrs of experience in finance and general management positions. But my heart lies in academics reaching n more so research. I did give GRE in November 2014...Q 163 V 159. I have teaching experience of 2 years 1 yr of Research experience and practical knowledge of SPSS and STATA. I did apply to colleges in US and Europe for a PhD but the lack of a research degree n quantitative background was a roadblock. Besides I did realise MBA does not suffice for a research degree. I have average grades and a GPA of 3.2. I'm ready to begin from scratch to pursue my passion of Research n teaching n my goal is a good PhD in Finance from Europe or US Kindly provide consultation advice as to how can I build my case for a potential successful application. Thanks
  3. In addition to the information I furnished in the previous reply, I want to add that I have a total industry experience of almost 10 years:- 6 months in economic analysis for a MNC at their corporate office, 2.5 years of general management profiles from Business Head to COO for a start up, 5 years of corporate training experience in finance and general management topics and finally 1.5 years of experience teaching Research Methodology and Economics. I want to enroll for a Phd Economics in 2015 fall in any case. I have very good LOR's and will make a decent SOP too. So now evaluate the profile in totality and suggest if I have a shot at a decent Phd Econ (25-45 rank) or should I rather focus on a Phd in Management, strategy or finance? P.S - Any one who can evaluate, give feedback and help me decide is appreciated in advance.
  4. Those scores put me in the top 20% category. Thanks for enlightening me on the MBA preparing Econ Phd situation. Since I was a student of Non Medical (pre engineering) I took two years of advanced math courses in higher secondary education too which included probability, calculus, differential equations, statistics, multi variate analysis). Those scores put me in the top 25% category. If there is any other info which you seek to elicit to better evaluate my chances feel free to do so. Otherwise do suggest what universities I can target? I am realistically looking at those with ranks in 25-40 range. As for the Economics courses i took them for two semesters only, was taught by a distinguished Phd Faculty and i do have a good grasp on the concepts too. I don't know how that can reflect on my application to make it of any value to the adcom.
