  1. Hello, I got my I-20. While signing the I-20 and putting the date, by habit, I wrote the date in dd/mm/yyyy format. But then I noticed that all the dates in the form are printed in mm/dd/yyyy format. So, I changed the format to mm/dd/yyyy with the pen. Will it be a problem during Interview since it is visible that I have made some changes? I am a bit anxious. Comments and suggestions from fellow urchers would be helpful. Thanks,
  2. Thank you. There are few professors at both places who are good and I would like to work with. Data on Recent placements at Rochester is not that available. I basically want to go with an open mind. Any suggestions on which one is better with respect to OM?
  3. Hello Fellow Urchers, So I am here again. Life has its own twists and turns. Just when I had almost decided in favor of University of Rochester (Simon Business School) after having received suggestions and advice from this forum, I got an offer for PhD in OM from Georgia Tech (Scheller College of Business). I have got less than a day to decide on the offers. The only tangible difference is that of stipend where Rochester is paying higher than Georgia Tech. Other than that, I have no bias towards any of the schools. It would be really great if you could give your suggestion/advice/comments on the way forward.
  4. Thanks all for the suggestions. Really appreciate.
  5. There aren't any specific profs at Nanyang with whom I would like to work. I just want to work with profs who are well published and would be helpful in the future.
  6. Thanks for the advice. God knows what happened but I do hope Rochester picks up again in the years to come.
  7. Hi sb29, What according to you is of higher importance- being able to work with the professors at the other three schools in Singapore or be a graduate from a US business school? I am a bit confused right now. Any inputs specific to OM would be of great help. Thanks.
  8. Hi Xan, I have no specific preferences for location after the program. for the time being I would like to keep my options open.
  9. Hello Fellow Urchers, I have acceptances from University of Rochester (Simon Business School) and Nanyang Business School (Singapore) for PhD in Operations Management. I am flexible in terms of research interests. I am from India but have no preferences towards any location for pursuing my PhD. It would be really great if you could give your suggestion/advice/comments on the way forward. Thanks in advance for your invaluable comments.
  10. I have been waitlisted at my top choice for PhD in Operations Management for more than a month. They told me that they would get back to me once they have an update. Does it mean i should stop hoping any more since it is already end of March. I thought of emailing them but then resisted myself thinking that it might seem too desperate. Comments and suggestions on the way forward from fellow Urchers would be of great help.
  11. @XanthusARES: It would be really great if you could kindly share the name of the school whose deadline just passed on March 15. As @Sailor said, I would try and approach them if they, by any chance, accept any delayed applications.
  12. This forum really keeps me going. At a time when rejects keep on demotivating me and making me feel bad that all the efforts and sacrifices (time, money, etc.) might go in vain, this forum gives me a reason to get and stay calm, although it is very difficult to do so. I guess some of my fellow Urchers are also in a similar position. The wait! The despair! My only hope Penn State - Smeal College of Business, it seems, is taking ages to come out with their decisions post interviews. Congrats to all those who are getting their dream schools.
  13. I have got an interview invite for the second round in one of the PhD programs I applied to. The first round was a generic interview asking about my interests and motivation for PhD. Is there any difference between the format (questions asked, etc.) between the first and the second rounds? Any suggestions would be of great help. Just for the info, my area is Operations Management.
