  1. One other thing that I am thinking about is how realistic this 3-year PhD route at Cambridge is. Although they say it is a 3 year programme some of my friend told me that most of the people actually take 4 years to do it.
  2. Hello guys, I am a UK MSc student and am currently considering these two places to do my PhD. Obviously, I know that generally speaking LSE > Cambridge. Nonetheless, Cambridge has some really good researchers for Econometrics (my area of interest) and also has the benefit of being a 3 year programme while LSE's programme is 5 years. How would you compare these departments?
  3. Hey Guys, I will be applying to a few PhD programmes this year (to entry 2016) and I was wondering how important is one's GRE score. Do Schools care about the AWA and Verbal scores or they only pay attention to your Quantitative Score? LSE, for example, only mentions: "Most successful MRes/PhD applicants have scores of 166/800 or more in the quantitative section." Should I assume that this is the only GRE requirement? I am asking this question because my GRE score is 169Q (Ok), 154V, and 3AWA (terrible). Therefore, I am not sure if I should waste my time studying for the GRE, given that I could use this time to produce my research proposal. Tks a lot :livid:
  4. Hey, I will be applying to LSE and Oxbridge as well for 2016 entry. Just one thing, you will submit you application with this GRE score? Mine is 169 (quant) 154 (verbal) and 3 (writing) and am I seriously considering to retake it... Do they care about the verbal/writing score?
  5. Thank you for your answer chateauheart. I know that my chances in getting into a top 10 PhD in the US in 2016 are very (incredible) low. However, as I said, I dont mind staying in the UK for a PhD (I think want to work here after the PhD since I dont need a visa). Therefore, my question was more like: What are my chances in getting into a Oxbridge or LSE PhD in mid 2016 if I stay at Warwick for the msc this year? Is it worth for me to take a gap year and apply to a msc (mphil) at the uni that I want to do my PhD (Oxbridge or LSE)? tks a lot :verydrunk:
  6. I am currently a student of the two year MSc programme at Warwick (Diploma plus MSc). My objective is to get into a PhD programme ASAP. Since my undergrad was in business and finance I don’t have high expectations in applying to a top5 department in the US; even though my GRE score is very good (170 quant) and my GPA was 3.8. In Warwick’s diploma (first year of the masters) my final mark was 81 (“impressive” first class honours). I honestly believe that with this mark, and given my undergraduate GPA and GRE score, and can get into any MSc (or Mphil) in the UK starting 2016. My question is, given that I want to apply for a PhD, is it worth for me to “loose” one year and apply to LSE/Cambridge for the masters or I should stay at Warwick and apply now (to enter in the PhD in 2016)? Obs: I don’t mind doing my PhD in the UK as long as it is at LSE or Oxbrigde (since I am european). tks a lot :verydrunk:
