  1. I was reviewing the attached question in the ETS Verbal Guide and wondered why it is "devolve" and not "appropriate" in this context. I understand that a) bureaucrats guard their power and b) so in this case, they're transferring their power. However, by "appropriating" their power to someone else can suggest that they are allocating their power elsewhere. To me, "devolve" and "appropriate" both serve the same meaning in this context, so what is the key term in this sentence that tips it off that it should be "devolve"?
  2. I tried plugging in numbers, such as r = 2, and I'm not sure why A isn't the answer. It looks like, for A, you would need to add the two radii (2+2), plug the base (2root3). B would just be 1/3(4pi). What is incorrect in my thinking? Image attached.
  3. Could someone please show me an example with actual numbers for the following flashcard question? True or False: If N > p > q, if p is a multiple of q, and if N divided by p has a remainder of R, then N divided by q would have the same remainder as R divided by q. Answer: True. If N divided by p has a remainder of R, if we call the quotient k, then N = p*k + R. Now, suppose we divide that sum by q. Since q is a factor of p, it would also be a factor of p*k and thus got into that term with no remainder. The only remainder will come from R divided by q.
