  1. Does the stress level of students in Accounting PhD programs vary much by school? Are lower ranked programs less stressful? Do some programs have a less/more pressurized culture? Any schools in particular? Thanks for your input.
  2. Test Scores (GRE): V: 98%, Q:60% Undergrad GPA: 3.6 at a second tier US school. (16 years ago) Graduate GPA: MA, Philosophy (mostly Logic): 3.96 (14 years ago); MBA (unranked program in Asia) 4.15 (4th in class of 50) Research Experience: No publications, but two citations to a philosophy paper written in grad school Teaching Experience: 2 years as Teaching Assistant during MA program Work Experience: 8 years as a filmmaker Concentration Applying to: Strategic Management, International Business, Nonprofit Management Number of programs planned to apply to: 15ish Dream Schools: HKUST, Nanyang, Erasmus - open to programs anywhere. What made you want to pursue a PhD: Enjoy research and writing Concerns you have about your profile: Working experience and MA may be perceived as irrelevant. No-name MBA program. Not likely to have very good recommendations. GRE Quantitative pretty low. I intend to apply to quite a few programs, but would prefer not to waste my time and money. Top ten, for example, is obviously out of the question. Top 40? Would appreciate any feedback.
