any idea about why only very few people receive the rejection for Stanford? I'm sure loads of people will have checked by now, but don't seem to post on GC.
I think that adcoms look at the names of your professors and uni. The reason being that they if they know the person, the can usually judge how challenging a course is. While I got lucky, I find this quite frustrating as there are loads of people at lower ranked departments who don't have any famous professors.
I suppose a top European or Canadian master and taking classes of people whose student place well is the answer.
Looking at a candidate like f150 who is good enough for Chicago, do places like Brown recognise that that candidate will get better offers than Brown and thus don't want to waste their acceptance?
Is it normal that when you go to the UoC application website to check your status, that you can upload "post-decision material", "passport", etc? Is this standard?
