  1. If you are really Dick, congrats on your daughter's success in the job market this year!
  2. Anyone got Stanford GSB finance offer? I interviewed with them two weeks ago, and GC has two accepted posts, so I guess I'm rejected?
  3. Strange that I got into Chicago but didn't get an email from Brown lol
  4. I think you should sleep. I think it was sent all at once this morning.
  5. Wondering about this too. I got an email from Herbst, signed by Nancy Stockey, but it says nothing about funding. I'm thinking they haven't decided yet and the guy on the admission thread was assuming that he got a full funding.
  6. For those of you who got accepted to Chicago
  7. Did anyone get any info regarding funding from Robert Herbst's letter?
  8. Hope this is true. Especially for schools that EXPICITLY says they will not review unless all letters arrive by the deadline.
  9. As the first batch of schools' deadlines are impending, I wanted to ask you guys about letter writers' deadline. I know almost all schools require that all the materials including the reference letters be submitted by the explicit deadline, but in practice is this the deadline for reference letter writers too? Should I ask my letter writer once again to please submit his letter by the explicit deadline or should I trust him that deadline in practice for letter writers are a bit later?
  10. I am choosing between the two programs in addition to straight Harvard econ. I think I do have a strong profile, and my letters are great, and I think my research interest coincide with faculties in the Kennedy school. But I did here that straight econ, business econ, and peg programs are basically the same, and the only difference is the funding package: business econ the most generous etc. But I really don't care about funding package or stipend. Anyone have any useful info on these programs? Thanks!
  11. I am applying to econ Ph.D program this year, and I was wondering when is the good time to send my GRE score. Should I send all of them now? How long does it take for scores to arrive? Thanks
  12. But I don't know if I'll get the same scores for Verbal and Quant. Getting a perfect score on Quant is more important than 5+ score on writing, no? So 4 in GRE will hurt my chances given that the rest of my application is strong?
  13. I am planning to apply this winter. I have otherwise solid profile: Top 10 school, 3.9+ GPA, very strong math/econ course profile, very good rec expected, very very good research experience, etc. My only concern is the GRE writing score. I got 170 on math and 164 on reading, but I have 4.0 on analytical writing. Do you guys think I should retake GRE? I heard somewhere that you need 4.5 on writing in order to be competent and I saw a lot of successful applicants to top 5 schools having 5 to 5.5 writing scores. I won't be able to get 5+ , but should I retake the GRE to at least increase my score to 4.5? I'll be taking courses and work for two professors part time this fall semester, so I won't be able to prepare for the GRE. I'll have to hope I'll get similar scores for verbal/quant and better score for writing without much more prep. Thanks!
