  1. Thank you very much for your advice. The truth is that i didn't apply to any of the aforementioned Phd programs, i am just planning to apply there in the future and i would like to get an idea about the likelihood to get admitted. Also, i am sure i don't want to continue to my home university and i was very clear during the interview with the committee that i will apply to other European schools and they didn't seem to have a problem
  2. Undergrad: Large state Uni ranked top3 nationally (Greece) GPA: 7.2/10 (top 10% of the graduate class of 250 students) Major: Econ GRE : NA Graduate: Barcelona Graduate School of Economics GPA: 6.81/10 Major: Econ Grad Classes: Micro I,II (C,C), Macro I,II, III (C, B+, A+), Metrics I,II,III (B,B-,B-), Asset Pricing (A+), Master Thesis (A) Currently: I have enrolled to a Phd at the top uni in my country with the intention to take advanced classes in micro/macro/metrics and work as RA to gain some experience, in order to apply in the next round to more reputable Phd's. LORs: One super strong from my professor of Math in the undergrad, and one other strong enough from a professor that knows me very well. The third one will be from one of my professors at the Phd i am enrolled Target Schools: UAB, IIES, SSE, Goethe, Bonn, Bocconi, EUI, LSE Provided that my GRE is high enough (>166) and i do great in the courses at the Phd i am enrolled, do you think that i stand a chance at any of the schools above? I would like to have an honest assessment from you guys. Thanks in advance
  3. Hello. I am a current master's student at Bgse taking the standard track in the first trimester. Well. it depends on your background, don't expect too many things from the professors in the advanced track in terms of teaching quality. This is because they assume that the students have advanced knowledge of the subject that they ''teach'' and thus instead of teaching they are just presenting things on the whiteboard. It is very challenging and unfortunately there is no support from the professors, you are on your own. Most of the students taking the advanced track have already taken either a masters or phd courses in their previous universities and they still struggling Even if you are very motivated, if you don't have a very strong background especially in math you will have very hard time in the advanced. On the other hand, the standard track is better in the sense that the professors really teach the subject. However, be ready to solve for one year problem sets. It is comparable to the best one-year masters across the Europe and if you do well you are going to have great opportunities
  4. Considering that the cost is similar then your choice depends on your research interests. If you like macro then BGSE hands down. If not, go for PSE. However, an important fact is that PSE is a two-year program, which means that you will get to know your professors much better than BGSE and thus you may take stronger letters of recommendation
  5. I never told that he has no chance. On the contrary,i believe that he will be admitted to a top 30 school. I just mentioned that Warwick doesn't help as much as the other schools
  6. Be sure that candidates from LSE,BGSE,PSE,TSE,Bonn etc with similar profiles will have many more chances at this range
  7. You have a decent chance of getting an offer from a top 30 school. However, you have to widen the range of the schools to which you will apply. Lack of research experience is something that matters and you have to somehow compensate for it. You should improve this aspect of your application in order to be competitive in such a high level. Also the fact that you graduated with a distinction from Warwick is a good signal despite the fact that it is not a very well known university, especially in US. PM me if you want (Ελληνας εδω)
  8. If you want to do macro UPF is your place
  9. It will be difficult to get strong LOR's but not impossible. That's because they invest in you and they want to keep you there. However if your grades are good enough and show that you have potential i think that you have good chances of getting strong LOR's. Furthermore, it is true that macro is the weak field at Tilburg but consedering that you do not have an offer from better schools in this field (like BGSE) you should think about it. In which schools did you apply to?
  10. Could you please reveal us which books are asked? I ask only for making a comparison with the books that i will cover at bgse master in economics (advanced track)
  11. The truth is that the competition is pretty hard at bgse and if you want to succeed and progress to their phd or another decent phd you need to study a lot and place yourself at the top of the class. It is not out of reach but it's difficult. Try to prepare yourself as better as you can before coming at bgse (in case you decide to attend bgse)
  12. The strong field at bgse is macro and the macro guys are excellent as well as metrics guys. You will get good training in game theory and behavioral so don't worry about that. Tilburg is very good at micro but the overall reputation of bgse is higher. I have also been accepted at bgse (i am a macro guy) and i think that it is better in terms of training and reputation than the other unis you mentioned
  13. Got rejected but ok it didn't hurt much cause i have already accepted the offer from bgse
  14. Did they contact you via mail? I have yet to hear back from them
