  1. Thanks for all the helpful advice! That is, while doing the master, one of my beloved one passed away. so I had suffered from insomnia and depression all the time. I applied for the PhD programs whatsoever, but I didn't do well last exam. That fact also drives me crazy so feel like going nuts. Life all messed up. So, I was thinking of leaving where I am studying and taking some recession if possible and not harm to the accepted offers. Now the overall opinions are this will matter to the offers, so I have no idea what I can do. I am not a mentally sturdy person and usually disturbed a lot. I do not really feel like I can make up the screwed up grades. On the other hands, I am thinking of just droping out current college and taking a rest for a while, and restart the master degree in another school in a region where my fiance doing Ph.D. My offers are mostly from low-ranked schools so.. I don't know. I am still weighing the pros and cons. On the other side, I am concerning the fact that I dropped out a master degree before will damage severely my future applications when I re-apply. Could you guys give some thought and help me to make a wise decision.
  2. Urch mates I am doing a master degree in economics now, I would like to ask about Ph.D. offers from my serious situation currently. I have got few offers from graduate schools I applied this cycles. However, for my personal issues, it's hard to admit but I cannot sustain my master study. In this case, my phd offers will be revoked? i.e the offers are conditional on my master degree or just unconditional? Of course, I have a bachelor, but I have no idea what this would be and it's quite sensitive to ask the departments. When I completed the phD applications I filled in the information of my master degree in progress. Is there anyone knows or was in the same boat? What is rule of the thumb?
  3. Maybe current Ph.D students used GC before. I used heard about doctoral students using ECJR and Urch for fun. Who knows, they are observing this threads after posting the fakes, and giggling over our reactions lol.
  4. I am suspecting yesterday's posts for Wisconsin were fake because the full funding amount was 33k, but in the past records they have never offer that amounts. It was usually 20-23k.
  5. Congratulations mate! I think you should go the Toronto to prove your school is the best and they are just ****! And then save me from Minnesota’s waitlist.
  6. Only two result for wisconsin today? Can I reasonably expect tomorrow?
  7. Sigh. Okay..I can't understand why they ignored my inquires for this..
  8. Click the "View checklist" I wonder this is normal or I should have took further action to waive the English requirement..
  9. Any people applied for Brown? I think their results will be up soon. I have a little concern. I just checked my status, and it still says "Material Awaiting" in TOEFL\IELTS part. However, as I graduated from an US institution, it should be exempt. I sent three emails so far for this the woman be contacted in the economics websites, but she ignored all the emails and I have not got any reply from Brown for this issue. Is this okay?!.. or I must take actions or it is too late?
  10. Yes, it is exceptionally too early. I just checked how it was last year and UCSD usually starts around 2nd week of February.
  11. First time applying 18 schools: Chicago, Northwestern, Upenn, Columbia, NYU, Wisconsin, Minnesota, UCLA, UCSD, Duke, Brown, Cornell, Carnegie, PSU, Maryland, BU, Wustl and Rochester Good luck all!
  12. Thanks for the great advice!! I just decided to focus more in this year, and may not apply the RAs. So, I put more extensive lists of schools Chicago, Princeton, Columbia, NYU, Penn, Yale, Minnesota, Wisconsin, UCSD, Cornell, Carnegie, Maryland, Brown and BU (Maybe JHU or Washu?) I talked with LOR professor in current school, with my all profile and he just said my lists looks good. By the way, can I ask why you recommended BC? Is it good in Macro? No offence, I just don't know much about it.
  13. I have added three more school the lists so, Berkeley Columbia, Upenn, UCLA, Minnesota, UCSD, Wisconsin, Duke and Brown I replied few days ago, but for some reason, it has been disappeared. First of all, thank your for your warm comment. Unfortunately, I couldn't graduated with Magna Cum Laude (I got a cum laude though) The concern is I have no idea how the committee actually will measure my true ability for studying and researching. 3.95 GPA is quite good, but later on, my performance had quite decreased, so I am pretty sure that they will severely discount my true GPA. In that sense, my combined GPA may be below average than typical applicants who usually aims the schools listed above. So, yes. I can say that there is some uncertainties in my profile, so I have really no idea applying those level of school is a right strategy. It would be wonderful if someone gives me some idea.
