Thanks for replying, I've been busy with school since. I graduated from BYU-Idaho in Economics, 3.2 GPA. I'm doing my master's in Fudan University (China) same GPA. I took the GRE, 160 verbal, 155 math, 5 writing. Definitely not going to be able to aim very high. The reason for looking into Canada is mainly to settle down. I'm from Colombia and my wife is from Mexico. Her family left Mexico because of the violence so she does not want to go back to Latin America. She also spent some time in Canada and loved it. How do you go about finding more information about development econ programs? I'm failing at google

I'm interested in development economics and I have been looking into PhD programs in Canada. However I feel like the requirements are very spread out. Universities like Toronto have a minimum GPA requirement but the people that get in have way higher GPAs than that, and others like McGuill, have lower requirements. What I'm trying to ask is if anyone here has experience with these programs, should I avoid some simply because they might be extremely hard to get in? Just because I do not have the money to spend on many applications and my grades and GRE scores are not as competitive.
