  1. I thought the deadline was 5pm EST on Thursday, the 15th? So the reasonable thing to do if you're sitting on the waitlist at a school you prefer, is to wait until maybe a few hours before the deadline and then submit the official acceptance form to your standing offer if you do not hear anything from your waitlist school. If the waitlist school does admit a little after the deadline which seems relatively unlikely, it is usually doable (and reasonable) to renege. Does this sound right?
  2. Does Stanford GSB Econ & Policy interview people? I thought in past years they did not conduct interviews.
  3. I think I saw this number somewhere too, but do you know what it is based on? My limited understanding is that for pure Business PhDs the % accept after getting an interview can range as low as 20% and as high as essentially a sure admit depending on the business school.
  4. Mine also says awaiting on the status page although I sent GRE scores awhile ago and ETS says they've been sent. Most likely the administrator who matches scores to applications hasn't gone through their database yet so it's probably not cause for concern, but if you do contact Booth please let me know what they say.
  5. I could be wrong but this sounds like the requirements specifically for people who are in the Minnesota Applied M.S. program and want to go on to the Minnesota Applied PhD program. Seems unlikely a U.S. PhD program would have masters level work as a strict requirement for general applicants.
  6. Hello all, I am beginning to think / prepare to apply to graduate programs this cycle. I think that I have a profile with a decent chance of admit for a top ten school (high grades in econ & math at a T15 undergrad, full time research assistant for 2 years, etc.) However, I am having trouble choosing my third LOR writer. Given that the other two letters will come from senior, well-published professors, which should I choose between: (1) A senior lecturer at the T15 undergraduate school who helped advise my thesis and regularly advises honors econ students; or (2) An associate professor at a relatively unknown university I RAed for a few years ago (have not kept close contact) who publishes frequently in top field journals with a few articles in general interest journals. My prior is that both letters would be of similar quality--strong but not excellent. Additionally, both potential recommenders received their PhDs from top five programs. I guess my main question is how disadvantageous is it to have a recommendation from a senior lecturer compared to a professor? Would that outweigh the lecturer being in a better position to make relative comparisons between me and other top students at my undergrad?
  7. These classes, Advanced Calculus I / II, look the most similar but may still not be as much math background as you want. John Jay College - MAT341 John Jay College - MAT442 They're not in what you listed, but I'd be surprised if a real analysis or advanced calculus was not offered regularly.
  8. You can go back to 2011: Best Economics Programs | Top Economics Schools | US News Best Graduate Schools The only significant difference is that caltech is ranked much higher in 2011.
  9. I remember seeing a few on Research Assistant Positions not at the NBER this year. I think they were at Toronto and U of British Columbia but have probably been filled by now since they were posted awhile ago.
