  1. From the information that I have gathered, I can say that it is very very difficult for you to get get admission into top US schools if u already have a MBA from IIM. Even in India, now a days IIMs' are not entirely open about taking students with masters degrees. One of my friends was dinged in IIM interview because he had a masters in IT. It does not mean that you cannot get to do a second MBA in these schools. But your essays need to be extremely strong to prove why you need another MBA when u have one already.
  2. check out the book, "How to get into Top MBA programs" .. its a good one for applications process. BTW, what colleges are you looking at?
  3. That is a superb score.. You truly rock. I am in total awe of your verbal score. best of luck on your apps!
  4. 680+ will be a very good score for your exp. All the best for your next attempt. In this forum I have read only one post that said that the computer score and actual score were different. In most cases they are the same.
  5. Hi, Cant answer the first. Abt. the second, what is your target score? If you want to increase it by another 50 points and if you still have that energy that you had before giving the exam, then I suggest giving a second shot soon. But take care to analyze your weak areas and do the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] atleast once more before giving the exam. If you are looking at 750 plus, then take off for a month. And prepare a rigorous plan that suits you. Do every material available. When giving a second attempt, it is imperative that you carry your energies and that you do not feel burnt out or tired.
  6. Thanks for the reply Dawid. Being in a competetive demographic has its own challenges. Now it is pretty clear to me that I have to give a second shot at the exam and increase the score beyond 750 to entertain any thoughts of going to the best universities. thank you, Manoj
  7. Hi, This is a brief outline of my profile. Can you please let me know if this will be competetive for Michigan,Yale and Duke? 1. Experience - 5 years experience in IT with 2 years in GE and 3 years in Wipro. 2. Global experience - 3 years in US in a cross cultural environment. 3. Career progress - Became a project leader after working for 2 years as a software engineer. 4. Career achievements - Always in the top 10% in the appraisal ratings in the company. Got several awards in both the companies that I have worked in. 5. Other activities - Primarily community service. Led a project under a well known organization to conduct free computer education for economically disadvantaged people. Was part of a project for conducting literacy classes to the economically disadvantaged. The aim of the project was to improve the overall literacy rate of my state. 6. 8. hmm.. you can minus one possibility ;) .
  9. what are the parttime programs available in Bay Area?
  10. Amit, Check BusinessWeek ratings.Michigan is in top 10 ratings from the last few years. I suggest you to decide between Michigan and Yale. I dont think that CMU is worth the huge investment if you can make it to better univ. If you get into the desired schools of your choice, you should not think about finance. Do everything possible in this world - go and meet the PM, meet the FM, appeal to a VC or threaten your bank manager, do every sort of good, bad and ugly to get the funding because the cause is great and just. rgds,
  11. 1 .Practice the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] verbal once again 2. Do the entire quant on this forum. 3. Take atleast 10 practice tests(KP,PT, Paper based etc). 4. Stay alert. Read the questions twice.
  12. Your Kaplan scores are not bad. In most cases, people score atleast 100 more than what they score on Kaplan. Your Kaplan scores indicate that you can take it to 650 levels. So dont worry about it. Just increase the momentum and give a second shot soon in next month. You will definately get a hundred more. Make sure that you take atleast 10 practice tests before you give the exam again. All the best.
  13. Great Score Akshay.. Fantastic effort on Quant. Awesome.. I think 51 is no mistakes on quant.
  14. E has tense errors... 'there is..' does not refer to an action that started in past and is continuing still
  15. Here is a good grammar prep. http://englishplus.com/grammar/contents.htm
  16. One suggestion. If you are planning to give a second shot, make sure that you do it within the next 2 or 3 weeks. Otherwise you will lose the tempo that you have built so far.
  17. Congrats on the score Nidhi. I too spent around 8 minutes on one RC. It was a 80 liner :(
  18. Congrats buddy. Your verbal score is awesome.
  19. so 100 :116=x:812 => x=700 + 10% incease => 770
  20. http://www.www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5967 thanks,
  21. Hi Jackson, I was actually referring to the Ivy League colleges like Wharton. There is a forum called MBAAdmissions in this site. I got the info after reading the threads there. Yes, I need to differentiate myself well enough to get into top 20 schools or programs. Thanks,
  22. Thank you all for your best wishes. Just came to know that 750 is the usual average score for all admitted Indian applicants (with exp. and other achievements) in the top 10 schools :( in US. Am now looking for part time courses.
  23. Take it cool rak.. I got 550,540,560 in Kaplan tests and 580 in princeton test. but scored 710 in real GMAT 1 week after scoring 580 in princeton test. Keep your cool. The quant is not that difficult to be afraid of. I feel studying kaplan,OG and PR quant will take to somewhere between 45-48. and doing all problems in test forum will take you to 50 levels. You have all the material you need. So just do them. You will be fine. Most importantly stay alert and maintain cool when solving the questions. Otherwise you will miss the twists in the question.
