  1. congratulations pharmjay!!
  2. hi erica1 I worked in riverside county near murrieta. I initially got 24.95 $ per hour for 9 months and then when they applied for my h1-b extension they increased the pay to 31.92 $ per hr. take care
  3. Hi Friends I got my cpje results today and i am happy to add one more smiley to my signature... I cleared the test and awaiting the license. It seems like a dream come true. all the best to all you cpje test takers.
  4. hi i can do it you have to download the form from nabp website. you can also pay online on nabp website when you pay the fees for naplex test. 3 easy steps. 1) go to texas board website apply for ATT online with 50 $ fees. they will ask you to send the documents like copy of your ssn card fpgec certificate etc. 2) once you get your att go to nabp website and register for naplex and score transfer and mpje at the same time. they will give you check boxes for each choice. 75 $ for each state you transfer it to. i paid 475$ +75 $ score transfer to california. you can select the primary state and the states where you are transferring the score to. 3) schedule your test with pearson vue for naplex
  5. hi guys finally i got my cpje result today. cleared it. finally i am a registered pharmacist. thanks for your support
  6. hi pharmjay I am stressed out thinking about the exam results. Just relax and revise as much as you can. Study weissman and try to concentrate on patient counselling points from the point of view of clinical and also LAW part. My cpje test was a mix of both clinical and law. It involved lot of patient counselling questions with law aspect being the focus in some of the questions. It is hard to say that clinical was predominant. As i posted earlier calculations were easy and was like naplex. There were some direct questions on brand generic names, side effects, nothing on dosage in my version of the test. Everyone has different versions as you know. So the result can come out any time ha !!! All the best
  7. Hi kingqueen7 I took naplex with texas as my primary and transferred score to california. I don't have to be licensed in texas since I took naplex from texas board. Since now california state has my naplex score I don't have to take naplex again to be licensed in california. The concept of having a primary state is to apply get ATT with the intention of being licensed in that state and other states. I wanted to get licensed in both texas and california. It can also be viewed as a short cut to finish naplex ASAPwithout having to wait to finish intern hours. In my case I took too much time because I had some other things going on in my life hence I didn't benefit greatly with respect to time. Bottom line is once the naplex score is transferred to "n" number of states, I can take law exam in that state and be licensed there. Of course you need to transfer intern hours to that state as well. I hope this is not very confusing as it sounds.
  8. Hi friends Did anyone get CPJE results ? Anyone who took the test in May or recently in june ? l:luck2:
  9. hi phillypharm Texas board does not offer online results. They usually take 2 weeks to send you the results. I got my result on the 17th day after taking the test. How was your exam ?
  10. Thanks bhani.... I have posted my experience in form of replies to all the questions raised in this thread.
  11. hi coolgoose305 I used the medglyphics.com website to view some mnuemonics for anti infectives and made notes on the table given in apha... For example if you are reading amino glycosides make a short note about those drugs. they are usually parentral drugs...IV drugs. they are used for bowel preparation before surgery. common side effects are ototoxicity(worsens with loop diuretics), neuromuscular side effects (worsens myasthenia gravis) etc. read the major bacteria they act against. mode of action. trough concentration of gentamicin, tobramycin are important to remember. Don't forget to revise. Don't get disheartened. i know it is easy said than done. but believe me if you do lot of questions along with APHA reading then you'll surely get through. don't get distracted by what people say about studying from so many books. Everything comes down to one thing which is how well you can apply what you have studied to the patient profiles. You must have noticed that pharmacology is so vast and volatile. Only way is to remember the major things about the drugs, do questions at the back of each chapter in apha, revise all the chapters atleast once or twice according to your comfort level and memory. Frankly I studied seriously for 1 and half month. First 25 -30 days i just read all the chapters and did all the questions from back of each chapter. i marked the chapters where I scored less marks. Then next 10 days I did 100-150 (4-5 profiles) questions from manan shroff daily just to get some practice on applying the knowledge to the profiles and did my first revision. Then last 5 days i revised the book for the third time paying more attention to chapters where i scored really less.
  12. hi pharmjay thanks for letting me know. I am so tensed....!! how is your preparation going on ?
  13. hi cactus When you did your internship in California how did you take NAPLEX through Texas board, moreover did you take the MPJE in Texas? Ans - I did my internship with CVS pharmacy in southern california and finished my hours last november 2007. Since I had a baby in march it took some time for me to get back to studies. How does this work? Can you elaborate a little on this? Just apply to texas board for ATT for naplex and mpje by paying the fees online. it is 50 $ for texas board and naplex 475 $ online + 75 $ for score transfer per state. You need to have a SSN, FPGEC certificate in order to get approval from texas board now. You can fill out the application for Naplex and Mpje once you get the approval letter from texas board which has a confirmation number for you which is needed to schedule the test with pearson vue. I haven't applied for MPJE yet for Texas. It is not mandatory to take MPJE if you do not wish to be licensed in texas. take care
  14. Hi Guys I am back after taking the CPJE this afternoon. As promised I thought I should share the experience with all you helpful people. For Naplex I just studied from APHA, calculations from the Manon Shroff, did appleton & Lange patient profiles, manan shroff 1000 questions book. APHA is the best book. APHA- I read it about twice and revised it once before going for the test. I just looked at formulas from kinetics, just went through biotech, compounding, sterile products, nutrition, bioterrorism & toxicology. Concentrated greatly on everything else in the APHA majorly mode of action, major side effects and drug interactions (last few pages of APHA has the list of inhibitors, inducers). You can never remember everything so concentrate on things which pop out. One of my friend suggested that I should write those important points in the tables given in APHA which makes it easier for revision in last few days. Solve the questions at the back of each chapter. When you read it for the first time just don't worry about how much you can remember. Try to get an idea about mode of action, major side effects. Start solving questions early which will give you in the naplex exam mode. When I finished reading the major disease chapters I started doing 3 to 4 profiles from manan shroff everyday. The calculations :Don NAPLEX were pretty much easy with most of them on infusion rates etc. So concentrate on the conversions in metric system. Most of the questions were from patient profiles with some independant questions in between. I had lot of questions from diabetes, immunization, HIV, Geriartics, psychiatry, thyroid drugs. Some questions on patient couselling, enteral feeding:crazy:. CPJE had questions on some brand generic, few easy calculations on infusion rates. I had law questions on patient counselling, medication error quality assesment, some questions from sample test in the CPJE bulletin. Few questions on injectable drug diluents, antibiotics, some side effect questions, lot of counselling questions relating to drugs, side effects. I just read the weissman's book on community law, revised my APHA reiview, formulas from manan shroff. :2cents:Another piece of advice don't take a break between naplex and cpje...10-14 days should be enough time for preparation. At this point I am not so sure about CPJE and moreover since the assessment is going on the results might take upto july last week. Let me know if have any more questions. I am planning to take MPJE texas and trying to find some suggestions within this forum. Before I got ATT from california I had applied to texas board and paid and extra 75 $ fees to transfer the score to california. By the time I scheduled naplex I recieved the California ATT so took the CPJE as well. All the best to all you folks studying hard for the tests. take care
  15. Hi friends:tup: i got my naplex score today and by god's grace i cleared it with a good score. I took the naplex through Texas board and got my score transfered to california board. I will try to answer any questions you post in this thread starting next week since i am taking cpje in few days. I promise that i will come back to post my NAPLEX experience next week. take care and study smart.
  16. hi kpharm you have to take naplex within those 2 months if you have paid for the exam otherwise you lose the money. Even if you don't take the exam you will lose the money if the exam is not scheduled within those 2 months. If you have not applied for MPJE and not paid the fees you don't have to take MPJE. once your authorization to take the test expires you need to re-apply for new one.
  17. try this MediGlyphics: Demo - mnemonics and visual figures

  19. Hi My experience with sagee mahmoud was really bad in 2005. She kept asking which city I want to work in and I gave her a very flexible answer. Then she stopped responding. I approached a district manager and he was looking for interns for his area. He was good enough to ask sagee to do the paperwork for me and arrange for an interview as she was the recruiter for international candidates for the company. Sagee called me and started asking personal questions like where does my husband work and if she gives me the area how will i manage working away from my husband etc. Guys she is very cunning and you have to watch out for such tricky questions where she is trying to analyze if you are going to stick with the company once they sponsor your h1b. Finally i got an offer with savon which was taken over by cvs. All the best
  20. hi 1mg morphine (po) = 0.05mg hydromorphone (IM)= 0.25 mg hydromorphone(oral/po)
  21. Hi, How do you know that NAPLEX will be reinstated from October 16th? Thanks.

  23. i read this on murthy law firm home web page: The USCIS has just released a memo dated December 5, 2006, that makes significant positive changes to the counting of time for H1Bs, H-4s, L-1s, and L-2s. This Memo addresses three separate issues. It decouples time spent in H-4 or L-2 status from the time limits spent in H1B or L-1 status, respectively. It permits extensions beyond the six-year H1B limit even when an individual has not been maintaining H1B status. Finally, it permits a person who departs the U.S. for more than a year prior to completion of the six years in H1B status to return for the time remaining of that six-year H1B period without again being subject to the H1B cap. For all of us at the Murthy Law Firm, our clients, and for most MurthyDotCom and MurthyBulletin readers, as well, this is a wonderful gift to receive from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) during the holiday season! Decoupling Time in H-4 or L-2 Status from H1B or L-1 Status, Respectively The USCIS has confirmed that the time one spends in dependent status (either H-4 or L-2) DOES NOT COUNT against the time limits under H1B or L-1 status. This is a significant benefit to families in which either individual is qualified for an H1B or L-1, but both do not have jobs at the same time. This interpretation allows people to spend the permitted maximum time in H1B or L-1 status, even if they have also spent some time in H-4 or L-2 dependant status. Now, if an H-4 receives a job four years after coming to the U.S. in H-4 status, for example, s/he is eligible for a full six years of H1B status, rather than only the balance of the two years. There are many situations in which this will be helpful, including cases that have minor children in H-4 status, who exhaust the six years before attaining the age of 21 years. Now such individuals would be allowed to work for the entire six years in H1B status. The H-4's petition for H1B status would be subject to H1B-cap limitations, unless it fits within one of the standard H1B-cap exemptions.
