Dr. Canada, i wasn't able to get any set other than what they gave me in the test center. if there were other sets given, i wasn't able to get hold of them. i left the test center immediately because i was hungry and my sis needed to go home after my test. i am not sure if they give the same test to people who are taking the test today april 16 but my booklet number was 986 (something something) or hmm...all i can remember vividly was the first number (hehehe) the number on the boooklet will tell you what set of questions you will get. so for you who are taking the test, remember the booklet number and share it also to the people in this list.

hello there. as promised, here are some of the questions given to me during the exam. i hope you'll be able to read this before you take the exam today. (from the Philippines) 1. for the storry telling: there was a man who was looking for a gift. he saw a vase and decided to buy it with his credit card. he had the gift wrapped and immediately went to his car. as he was trying to get inside the car, he accidentally dropped the gift. he didn't check whether the gift was broken but he gave it to his grandmother anyway. when his grandmother opened the gift, she was delighted to see a beautiful vase and the man sighed with relief to see that the vase was in a good condition: 2. if you were to give a gift to a friend or a relative which would you prefer, money or gift certificate or a gift personally chosen by you? explain why. 3. give the advantages of working in a challenging environment and working in a predictable, routinary environment. 4. what are the changes in your life if you become famous? 5. a pie graph about the use of freetime of people (in a certain state) in 1999 and 2000. tell something about the graph. 6. do you think that playing video games for children will be beneficial for them? why or why not? 7. workplace situation: you just came back from a vacation; tell interesting that happened during your historical tour, tell your officemate why it is also fun for her to have that kind of vacation. 8. complaint regarding the late delivery of cups and plates. 9. progress report on the selection process of new department head of the bank (i forgot already) i didn't finish in some of the questions because i just kept on talking (but hopefully with sense!) i just pray that they won't mind if i didn't finish in some and hopefully they would consider my communication skills. (60 seconds is not enough!) be conscious of the time (but don't be a slave from it) GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU! ENJOY!

hello boorz, definitely the listening part in powerprep is much better than the one in the actual test. but i don't know if it varies with different testing centers. if the same thing happens to you, just tell the test administrators immediately because it might affect your score. about the powerprep being a good source of practice, well, i guess you're right in saying that for some people it is enough and for some other people, it is otherwise. but i just told you guys about this because i don't want you to worry too much. but it doesn't hurt to be on your toes and prepare for the test. again good luck to all of you who are still taking the toefl. and thanks to everyone for their congratulations note!:tup:

:D hello! i just finished my toefl today. i was able to finish the entire test in 2 hours and i think i did pretty okay. my estimated score was from 227-280 (i think, i forgot already!) but i'm kinda nervous about my TWE. I know i will pass my toefl and be able to submit it to any credentialing offices that i want but i'm still having doubts with my TWE. Thirty minutes is not enough to finish a well-written essay. they should have reduce the number of minutes for the listening, structure, and reading sections of the test and just add more time for the essay. i really thought that it's going to be difficult but it's like taking a powerprep practice! but one thing i didn't like about the test was tha quality of sound during the listening test. i don't know if it's because of a lousy recording or because the wires of headphone in the center are busted. But it was really distracting me especially when the sound would just move to just another ear and you could not hear anything from the other ear. I think i should have done better in the listening part if only they would fix that issue. i was not able to tell the moderators about it but i just wanna share this to you in case it's your time to take the test. Just learn how to concentrate more and not get distracted with technical issues like that. generally, it was okay. the testing center was really conducive for taking tests. even if you are with the other test-takers in just one room, you can hardly hear or even feel them. it's like you're taking the test alone. well, my next problem is TSE. hehehehe. so good luck to those who will be taking the TOEFL test and don't be bothered so much about it. it's not as hard as you think believe me! you can survive by just practicing with the powerprep! no need to buy any other materials for the test!

hello erin! I just registered almost two weeks ago and I paid $130 for my TOEFL, where exactly can i get free PowerPrep software? I am taking my test on March. thanks! (had problems with replying. hehehe. i'm new to this forum. forgive me!):)

hello erin! If you haven't practiced the TOEFL with the PowerPrep, you really should. TOEFL is going to start giving this software away for free (but they are raising the price of the test to US $130). Then, you could practice on the real thing, to see what it's like. I am just new to this forum and I will be taking TOEFL on March, what are the criteria for grading essays? What if I am a good writer but the topic from which I have to write an essay is totally unknown to me, how can I pass the TWE part of my TOEFL if this is the case? Or do they usually give out general topics? thanks!

do you know any websites where they give free tutorials on TOEFL? I'm going to take the computer-based TOEFL this March and I'm not yet preparing. Thanks!
