Thanks for the advice. I am sure that getting knowledge is not bad, BUT my major concern was that I hope it doesnt act as an impediment in my getting into a top B school. Also this degree will help me to get some very relevant workex which is reqd. to apply to a B school.

I am planning to attend Harvard (which according to US news is the 2nd ranked after John Hopkins) in the Occupational and Environmental health concentration. As far as WHY MPH, I am doing MPH so that I can get exposed to the Healthcare Industry. In India after my degree I can only work as a Physician and not in any other field in a significant fashion. So doing MPH is going to give me exposure to the way the Private sector works. Also this is the closest industry that suited my profile, atleast for the time being. Also I was confident that I could get into a good institute as far as MPH is considered, which will also give me a chance to rub shoulders with the very best in the industry and understand their way of thinking. For me MBA degree will open the doors toendless opportunities including getting an opportunity to work with any health couslting agency or pharmaceutical company. What do you think?

No I am talking about MPH from the top 2 univs in the US...then where does that lead....I am not talking about MPH from India

Do my studies before my MPH, especially the field that I was in going to significantly affect my admission chances? I am a medical graduate from India. Also the school that I do my MPH from going to significantly affect my admission chances esp. if I am from one of the top most MPH schools around?

I am at a crossroad where I need to make a few very important decisions....So I am posting this over here with the hope that anyone who has any clue, idea or suggestions can help in making my decision. I will be joining MPH ( Master Of Public Health) in the Fall 2006 session. I wanted to know what are the prospects of me doing an MBA after MPH? What are the sort of views/attitude that B schools are likely to have to an applicant like myself and what are the sort of job opportunities that I am likely to be confronted with? Also, what are the things that I can do strengthen my application ( since I have some time on my hand, I am just starting my GMAT prep) esp considering that I dont have much of a background with Business as of now.

Hey Tam, although I am just starting off, but do have a feeling that 670 is a pretty decent score and if you have great essays, work ex, recos and stuff you should be through. However if you feel that you could have done much better and if you ahve some time to spare then there would be no harm in taking the exam all over again ( esp since you feel that you were scoring consistently in the 740 - 760 range of GP, which by consensus is fairly representative of the exam score)

Also whta do you plan to dod differently if you were told to do it all over again (That is if you plan to do it)! PS: That has to be the one of the MOST balanced score as far as V & Q scores are concerned
