  1. Yeah...verbal wasn't much of a problem in the practice tests. The quantitative areas (geometry in particular) required the most effort. However, since I typically had time to spare in the verbal practice tests, I made an effort to spend more time on the RC and argument questions on test day.
  2. Thanks! I am an American, actually...but more importantly, a Texan ;) Don't let Kaplan scare you TOO much...I equate working with Kaplan to running with weights on your ankles. If you can do respectably on their material, you ought to be fine on the real deal. I suggest starting with the Princeton Review for developing strategies to solving the problems, moving next to Kaplan's practice problems, following with Kaplan's CAT's, and finishing with Power Prep's CAT's. After a 600 and 580 on Kaplan's CAT's, the 700 and 720 I scored on PP1 & PP2 really pumped me up and ended up being much more accurate indicators of my final score. As for the rest of my prep and test experience, I don't think I can offer too much more than can already be found on this forum - some of these folks write novels on their expericence! Quantitative was my weakest area (as evidenced by my score), so that is the material I studied the most. I felt I had a good handle on the verbal section and did not put much into it. One item did stand out though. In my practice exams, I always finished the verbal section with at least 15 minutes to spare. Today, I finished with just two! Good luck!!!
  3. Actual GMAT 730(Q46, V44) Practice Tests (in order taken): Kaplan Diagnostic 690 (Q41, V45) Kaplan CAT 1 600 (Q36, V36) Kaplan CAT 2 580 (Q34, V36) Power Prep CAT 1 700 (Q44, V41) Power Prep CAT 1 720 (Q47, V42)
  4. Just took the test this morning and am pretty pleased with the results. Used a combination of Kaplan, Princeton Review, and the Official Guide for study materials. Kaplan's practice tests were noticeably harder (particularly the math) than the actual test...thank God! Started studying about a month and a half ago, but lost about three weeks due to late nights at the office. All in all, probably about three total weeks of prep time. Results on pracitce exams (in order taken): Kaplan Diagnostic 690 (Q41, V45) Kaplan CAT 1 600 (Q36, V36) Kaplan CAT 2 580 (Q34, V36) Power Prep CAT 1 700 (Q44, V41) Power Prep CAT 1 720 (Q47, V42) Planning on applying for Fall 2006, so I'll get to take a little breather before I have to work on the applications themselves. Just glad to have this thing behind me!
  5. It was the test from the CD. In terms of areas to improve, my geometry is a bit rusty (never use it) and the data sufficiency problems seem to be my biggest structural weakness. Any thoughts on the quality of the drills/games on the CD? Gunning for McCombs, Fuqua, and UNC-Chapel Hill.....
  6. Howdy, folks....I'm sure this is the first post of many! I'm taking the GMAT next month and have been studying for the past couple of weeks. I just took Kaplan's diagnostic test and scored a 690. Any idea how this will translate into the real thing? From what I've read on these boards, Kaplan scores tend to fall a little lower than the actual GMAT. I'm shooting for a 700+. Thanks!
