  1. The number I keep hearing from other RAs (work with Harvard profs) is 16 admits
  2. That’s the silver lining my letter writers have been reminding me of 😂
  3. FWIW Chicago has sent out the offer letters from the department, but from folks I know who got in, the official admissions portal update or whatever hasn’t come through yet.
  4. Honestly, this is the biggest thing that I don’t think people realize. I’m a top 5 pre-doc & can think of people without 4.0 or with Q168/169 (not 170) who got into Chicago (this time) /Harvard (last time). IMO, predoc is the single best thing to do to increase likelihood of admission. Of course, selection into top 5 RA is severe, but even conditional on the selection, the extra two years to develop research ideas and write a strong personal statement, get strong letters, publish/coathur in NBER. Very few people (certainly not me) we able to do that as seniors in undergrad.
  5. I’ve heard this too. The rumor among Cambridge pre-docs is the target class is smaller too.
  6. It seems like this year gradcafe should be discounted to ~0 because of all the trolls.
  7. Good point - I was taking to a current bus-ec student, who didn’t specify. Other programs may well be pending,
  8. All HBS interviews went out last/this week. Source: am also Cambridge insider with friends across the river folks, HBS bus-ec admits the top admits to Harvard Econ. Even conditional on getting an offer from Harvard Econ, it’s more than likely to not get an interview from HBS. There is roughly no information in not getting an interview from HBS.
