  1. Well, it's been quite a crazy ride. I was just accepted off of the waitlist at NYU and have accepted their offer so this crazy process is finally over for me. Good luck to those who are still waiting for offers, and for those who don't receive one this year: Never. Give. Up. Life's a bitch and victory is only attained by prevailing over numerous defeats. Good luck and goodbye.
  2. For some reason I was under the impression that it is 16:00 eastern time on the 15th. Can anyone confirm or correct me on that?
  3. I'm almost definitely going to decline my offer there today or tomorrow. Good luck!
  4. I asked earlier and though I didn't get a finite answer, it didn't seem to me like there was any heterogeneity in the invites they sent out to the WLed. As far as I know, everyone was invited to attend virtually.
  5. From GC, as well as here and talking to friends it looks like everyone got it.
  6. Not my field of interest so I wouldn't know. It was just awkward to be there. Oh, but for context, by "applied micro" this includes econometrics, development, IO, I think health was there... maybe more... they lumped a bunch of stuff together.
  7. The applied micro group. It was awkward as hell.
  8. I was there. The applied micro group seemed pretty bad, not enough professors and visible tensions between the different professors during their presentation. One of my friends who was also there already told me he is going to decline their offer.
  9. Yes, I was unaware of this, but apparently you can reverse your offer after 15/4 if you get a better offer afterwards. Happens all the time because of these crazy waitlists!
  10. Visiting day is on 31/3, but I've heard from a lot of people that offers off of the waitlist usually come on or around 15/4, so my posterior is pretty tight around that date.
  11. Me personally, I would answer "yes" if I estimated 80% confidence or above. Edit: I think it probably would not hurt your chances to answer maybe. Another university reached out to me asking what is the likelihood that I would accept. I made it clear that I have similar offers and am waitlisted at dominating universities, thus my acceptance of their offer is not guaranteed. I received an offer from them a couple of days later.
  12. Well currently my only offer is from Brown. Idk how to compare. I'm also on the waitlist for NYU, but personally, I'd rather live in Philly than in NYC.
  13. Strong opinions, lol. Can I ask why?
  14. Thanks. Is a waitlist also out of the question for you?
  15. Is there anyone else who hasn't heard back from UPenn still? Wondering what it means. Also, rejections on a Saturday? Quite odd.
  16. Sorry for the double post, I can't figure out how to edit my previous post. Is it normal for admissions committee members to be so forward in asking where I was admitted/waitlisted? I was asked by an admissions committee member at a university at which I am waitlisted. I currently have an offer from a slightly lower ranked school and have waitlists at top ten institutions. Would giving this information to him/her be a good signal as to my quality? What is the optimal response here?
  17. I received an email informing me that I was waitlisted on the 4th. Subsequently, I received an email on the 9th inviting me to the "virtual open house". The email states that "Unfortunately, for budgetary reasons, we could not invite everyone to attend in person." I know that people who received offers were invited to come in person. I was wondering if there were waitlisted people who were invited in person as this would signal a "short" waiting list (and that I'm not on it!).
  18. Another school (was it Georgetown?) claimed they received 10,000 applications. They are just writing random crap at this point lol Did anyone waitlisted at NYU get invited to the visiting day in person instead of virtually?
  19. So UPenn is an IR by this point?
  20. There have been zero waitlists for Columbia and only two acceptances so far on gc, so I definitely wouldn't say it's an IR.
  21. I’m sorry to hear. My mom is a professor so I grew up hearing about how difficult of a profession it is. If there is anything that I’ve learned from her it’s that perseverance is everything. Those who succeed are not those that fail the least. They are those who fail the most because they choose not to give up. 💪
  22. It seems like not all of the notifications were sent out at the same time, but I would still update your expectations downwards. If you don't get an email by tonight I would say it is very likely an IR.
  23. An email with a link to a google form to fill out our interest in staying on the waitlist, our other offers, etc... Nothing on the portal.
  24. Nvm, I just got a waitlist too. Looks like it might be long.
